Ah yes, welcome to the wonderful order of the one true path of the M1 carbine! With an M1 Carbine (loaded with soft points) and a 1911 (loaded with anything), you are "well healed" as they said in the old West. There are many high priests of Carbine knowledge here, but I am a mere acolyte!

True, in a full blown battle I would rather have an "автоматическая Калашникова модернизированный 47 but that is another story. FOr home and farm, the M1 Carbines rocks as a PDW

With a 1911 and and an M1 carbine, you are good to go!
(You already have an M1 Garand and a 1903, right?)
so they don't cobb up the stock. You will find that the pouch makes a light handy weapon into a heavy poor handling weapon. Unless you are in combat, it isn't a priority.
I go down to Walgreens and buy those Dr. Scholl's corn pads, the kind with a hole in the middle and self adhesive. I stack two of them and center them over the snap and cover with a little piece of duct tape. It works great.

They definitely change the feel when shooting, and I much prefer them off. Adding to that, they are a liability to your stock.
I just HAD to have stock pouches on all of my carbines when I first got them. (The just looked cool)
Too many negatives, so I took them all off and I never put them back on. (Besides, they covered up the CC's)
To each his own. They look pretty neat displayed near your carbine too.

Some say tape over it, it will be fine. I would not want to even take a chance of marking my stock with the snap. The few times I have felt compelled to put a pouch on a stock, I just removed the snap. Drilled the middle and it came apart. Even hard to see the opening afterwards.Quote:

And like others have said, it throws the weight way off. I wouldn't do it again except for a display.
...my million dollar idea for all you humppers out there. Do something usefull and honest for a change. A repro stock pouch actually made for a stock. Made new with no snap to scratch the stock , just a fake patch to look like the snap back. Maybe even a second model that will snag the sling to hold the pouch back by the buttplate to keep it from riding forward to crowd your hand.

I have a pot belly SA stock, so I don't care about the snap. I have always used a type I pouch on my carbine, so I am used to the feel, and doesn't bother me a bit. (in fact i had it on when I shot that awesome group last month).
I carried an M1 Carbine for an Law Enforcement trunk gun for the majority of my 20+ years. With two 15 rounders in the pouch and a 30 round GI SEY mag in the weapon gave me 60 rounds when I grabbed the weapon. When we were doing a lot of lab raids, I taped two 30s together with black duct tape, so I had 90 rounds without messing with a shoulder bag.
At home since I retired, I still have the pouch with 2 mags and a 30 rounder in the weapon. A great visual deterrent for goblins who come onto the farm.
PS, I even had it on a couple times when I took deer with it, and it did not mess up the feel, but as a say, that (with the "stock" pouch) is about the only way it feels right to me!
