Dear fellows, I've been offered with a nice Eddystone M1917, 1.333.000 range and "E 9/18" barrel. It has the s/n also on bolt and stock, so I guess she's a Danish one; all the parts are E marked and blued.
What do you think about it by a collector's point of view? Is it still a collectible one or just a shooter?

Hard to tell w/o more detail. If it's reasonably intact you can do both! "Just Shooters" are becoming more scarce as many folk go to great lengths to "restore" sporters to their military configuration. I'm guessing if there's no non military mods, it has a fair amount of collectbility.
The British received a million M1917's in 1940. Could well be British. Nice M1917's are hard to come by, lots of beaters around.
Thanks... Unfortunately I have just these pics of the rifle. The barrel is E 11-18, and there is an eagle/inspector stamp on the stock, rear the triggerguard.
Been to Europe, for sure. Looks like a keeper to me, good for you.

Stock doesn't look Eddystone though, Winchester or Remington perhaps?

Thanks to you all for your inputs :thup: About the stock maker, I guess mdoerner doesn't like the color, right? The seller stated there is an "E" on the tip (front, under barrel): what I have to check to be sure this is Eddystone made?
It should have an "E" at the tip, but the finger guard cuts and the relief around the bolt handle do not look like an Eddystone stock. Any photos of the stock tip?

Appears that you have been offered an all Eddystone rifle, maybe original. If you can get it for a good price, a shooter and collector. What's the price, I'd say seven to nine hundred dollars in the states, guess more in Europe.

Thanks again to you all; Mike, unfortunately I don't have at the moment a close pic of the stock tip (but I can ask for).
I just have these 3 more, I hope you can find out something by them.
About the price, strange enough the range is the same here: from 700 to 900... but euros (and M17's are rising: I bought a good one 3 years ago for 490). For this one the seller wants 700, which seems to me an honest price.
What do you think about the bluing?
The brass pin through the stock is a repair pin. Probably a crack inside the inletting. It's most likely a US military repair.
The rifle looks ok. Better than mine:-) And mine was a Danish Lend-lease with s/n stamped on the topside of the bolt handle. That's not USGI.

The brass pin is installed when the stock is made. It's not a repair. Every 1917 and P14 I've seen has a brass pin. FWIW:D
One of those things I looked right past on my own rifles. My P14 has it but I can't get to my M1917.
This one doesn't appear to have the brass pin.

Now I have a pic of the tip: maybe is just me, but it seems that under the E (a bit "fresh"), there is a R. What do you think?
Yep, looks like it had an R then was stamped over with an E. Don't understand why someone would do this. As pointed out before, the finger grooves do not match the Eddystone profile. Appears to have a Danish style front post sight. Is it being sold as all correct, or as a mixmaster/shooter?Quote:

The Bolt cutout on the Eddystone stock is fairly distinctive, its very blocky whereas the Winchester and Remington stock cutouts were a scallop shape.

nice looking rifle. it does appear to have a danish target front sight post, but without the "norwegin" receiver cut. interesting. i will have to go look at my danish/norwegin eddystone to try and find that brass pin.
