It is not pitted, It has dings but not pitting. It's mine and I'm looking at it right now
Jim, I was trying to be funny :surrender:
Paul, didn't mean to offend you if I did.:surrender:
I removed the oops coment
I know what these kinds of posts turn into.
If you remember the T2 band I was selling with the squared of inner band that everyone said was fake. Turned out it was real. I saw who was selling the safety and figured it was real on reputation alone. Idid not realize that you knew who the seller was. Sorry for any hurt feelings.
Ok, got a question... does that safety come with the egg or without?
Paul, I ain't shopping for IP, but you got any better pics? I would at least like to see it and drool a little bit? Like the next gun nut, I like a little gun pron every now and then...
Paul, Ditto on the better pics if you have the time.
I agree with Jim that it looks pitted in your pics.
Ya have to remember that fuzzy pics are a sore point here. We all trust you but we also kinda hope for sharp pictures.
Thanks
I took alot of photo's but I just can't produce a good pic of the safety. Sorry but I tried and just can't seem to get a real good one to list. It is not pits but my advice is not to bid if you are concerned about the condition. It dose have dings in it that resembles punch marks and I don't know what caused them but it is a legit part and it is not pitted. Tired retired please explain your egg comment?
As in "egg on your face"?

Paul, I sent you a PM but I have no idea if it got to you since I was dumped into a totally unfamiliar part of this site.
Since I just wandered into the realm of PM's here.....
My suggestion was to check up on the capabilities of your camera's Macro function.
My wife has a much better camera than mine but the Macro function sucks.
Probably time for one of us to re-start a digital camera forum????
We trust your parts..... no offense intended..
Phil
None taken but on my monitor the pics really look ok.
Paul
I don't think those egg or ooppss comments were meant for you. But at me.
I know your ebay name. People here don't know you and I met 20+ years ago at Pomona. And if you read my post I didn't questioning the safety being real, just what a nice stamp on a binged up end of the safety. To me, from the photo, it looks pitted not punch marked. My thinking was what a shame it was binged up.
People try to read more into posts then what is written. I posted a picture of a BR marked leaf on an unmarked base. I knew the base had been changed somewhere along the line. But I also knew the leaf was legit. The comments flew about it being faked, looked like George's work, etc.
I'll put your 25+ and my 30+ years experience of collecting carbines up against most anyone, except BrianQ that is.
Not worth getting heartburn over it. Sorry it caused such a fuss.
Jim
I agree with Jim. Someone is not telling the truth !. Mike
Amen to the part of Macros and the function of all these electronic photos, I feel like pulling out my Poloroid (hope I spelled that right) out of moth balls.
Egg comment was intended as a joke between friends.... Not mean-spirited or rude... I recognized the ebay name when I saw the post... JimF pointed out the part and that the pictures (unintentionally) looked like pits... However, he may not have recognize that the seller on Ebay was your name... USGI tried to make a joke out it with his initial comments... my initial comments response was the same... reminded me of the cartoons when Scooby-Doo always backed into Shaggy in the dark and they scared each other to death without realizing it was each other... hence, does the part get sold with or without the egg on the face that your friends are wearing?
I never questioned the part - my picture comment is based on my crusade to improve all poster's photography.
As far as camera, sometimes its the light.... need extra light. As far as the extra small parts, I use the small tripod that can with an old spotting scope to hold the camera... then I use lots of light and no flash... I also set the camera to the "timer" setting before I push the button.... That results in my hands not shaking the camera when the shutter opens and closes... just a thought.... ugh, where's my coffee...
Let's move on I did'nt read anything into the comments just don't understand the humor. Jim it probably looks like pitting but the picture is the best that I could get. I just tried to let everyone know that it is not pitted. Like I said if it sells fine if it dose not oh well back to the parts bin.
BTW,
Very nice looking WRA Hi-wood stock you have there Paul.
That will make someone's day!
Good Luck..

Hey Paul, sometimes you can get a real good picture by placing it on a scanner! It is a short focal length picture, but usually very clear. Just trim the picture to size after scannig to eliminate the excess image.
