WTK: looking m1 carbine orig. magpouches???

Well with all the discussion on the mag pouches lower on the thread. I have a bug to finish off my collection. anyone know of who might have a large quantity of the mag pouches that they would be will in sell?? I am looking for pouches I do not currently have. so it looks like I am down to needing 25 belt pouches and 59 stock pouches. Does anyone have or know of a quantity I am looking for.. I am getting tired of Epay. will pay fair market prices for the pouches I need. I have an excell sheet that I can email or snail mail.

im starting to collect these also, i have 7 or 8 type 1's, not interested in type 2's yet, if anyone has a duplicate they want to sell, im also will ing to pay fair market for them, send me a PM of what you have

The question is what do people think is a fair market value. My area it's $25 others say around $15. I wouln't sell any for that price. Location, location, location.

$15-25 is the max in my opinion, there must of been 30 million of them made, Bill Ricca would probably have a better idea how many were made by different manufacturers

No, I have no records showing the totals. The pouches were a Quartermaster item and my records are mostly Ordnance.

I know that circa 1959-60 a group of surplus dealers (two brothers if I remember) got around 1.2 million on bid. They were mixed as stock and belt, and every color and marking you could name. Retail was probably around 25-50 cents each, which was a lot of money in those days.

And they were only a handful or carbines in private hands.

What is your opinion an a fair market price, TODAY. I feel 1942's are harder to find. And some makers are harder to find.

that is a very good question Jim

In around 1972-74 I purchased over 4,000 of them. Today I have maybe 100-125 left. If you go to my web page for carbine you will find the prices. They sell very fast and as soon as I get my software for web site production, I have to raise the prices.

It is not a matter of canvas pouches. No military items can be sent across borders without an export license and approval.

I thought that only pertained to firearms and related items such as parts and optics. I've ordered many items from the States without any problems military clothing etc..I guess then these companies were big enough for the required permits or were violating the law..

The law is that anything produced, owned or delivered to the military has to get clearance before exporting or importing. Many sell commercial copies, which are not covered. If an actual military items goes over the border without the license process, it can be a legal problem.

Some fill out the forms and do not describe the contents. A military shirt can be list as "a shirt". A military trigger can be listed as "mechanical spare part". I remember one guy who sent Garand parts in from Italy and listed them as "Sewing Machine Parts".

It all depends upon if they open the package, inspect it, and can identify what they are looking at. Then trouble can begin.

Thanks for the clarification..So original GI mag pouches cannot be shipped as they were issued to the military, but reproductions are ok? Still think it's a little overboard. I remember crossing the boarder in 1992
picking up an M1 Garand for $180 and the only thing I had to do was declare it to Canada Customs, show them my permit and pay the taxes. All they wanted was their share of money..Guess I'll just have to get a P.O box in the States, I'm only an hours drive out of Buffalo.

Yeah, then you are only a smuggler, bringing them back.

It's only smuggling if I don't declare it at Canada customs
