A shop only 2 klms from me has about a dozen of them for sale in brisbane & ive had a good look at them but never used one. The finish on them looks great though. Im probably going to buy one when i sell my clay pigeon gun.
My only problem is which one to buy !!

They are very well built, extremely accurate with just about any ammunition and HEAVY. The stocks are dense, Teak I believe, and fit very well. Mine looks to be hand fitted. Everything about it is exactly as it should be. I don't regret for one minute buying mine. I like it so much that I even mounted a Pecar 6X on it.
I've got a deal in the works on a 7.62x39 model. It it is at all like the 7.62x51, it should be a dream to shoot. Not only that but with ammunition running at $225/1200 it doesn't get much cheaper.
Prices are similar to those in Canada from the OP link.
The one I'm working on getting now is NIB with a spare mag, front sight adj tool and scope base for $800Can shipped, taxes in.

I can hardly wait for bearhunter to get his as I want to help him wear out the barrel?? LOL
If it wouldn't cost me an fortune I'd drive up and give you a hand with that ;) thing is the ferry is a killer. I could bring up my M10 in 308. I just used it two weekends ago to win 5 turkeys in our clubs anual Christmas Turkey Shoot. I got my 6th with my BSA No.8 in the 22 shoot. My AIA was worth every penny.
Don, we're going to have to organise some milsurp turkey shoots at the Lumby range. To bad it's only 100m.
Man I wish someone would import these to the States!
Check the Technical Articles for Milsurp Collectors and Re-loaders (click here)
There are two informative but very different library entries on the AIA rifles.
AIA No. 4 Mk. 4 (Review by Stevo) (click here)
Australian AIA Rifles (Feedback and Opinion by Steve) (click here)
Please note that the author of "Australian AIA Rifles" Steve is not the same as the member Stevo, who wrote a separate review of the "AIA No. 4 Mk. 4 rifle."
Also, type australian m10 in the Google CES custom white search box (located top right of forums) and you'll see dozens of past threads discussing these rifles.
Hope that helps .. :)
Regards,
Doug
But how to get one here in the USA ?
they are in the US already. I am trying to find the thread with some info.
Here's a start. Proving to be a hassle to get what I want.
Scarce Australian A1A A2
I know there is another thread out there that I replied to that has more information ... but can;t find it.....
edit: look in the appraisal and mediation forum for more details. Gander Mountain ( where ever that may be ) seems to be the go.
My brother has one and swears it's perfect for long range shooting. It is a heavy beast of a rifle, that's true, but according to him it's worth every penny. I'm going to get to try it out in the spring. As an aside Brit Plumber, how'd you make out with the .22 Lee Enfield?
If you can find one, see if you can get a cheek piece for it. That helps align the eye better.
I have one in the 7.62x39 and it is a real shooter! I have heard that it is near impossible to get accesories like the above for it.
The rifle should come with a carrying case, buffalo hide sling, and two mags numbered to the rifle. The mags were numbered by a felt tip marker!!
You may have some difficulty placing the mags in the rifle due to very close tolerances and parkerising. I had to use some steel wool to polish away the parker coating though.
Yes and yes.
Had my no4 mk 4 for over a year now and still very pleased with it.
Shoots consistently MOA or slightly better with the fed gold medal match 168 ammo @ 100 metres off bench. Moves out closer to about 2 inches with regular factory stuff though.
I've never shot any further than 100 so don't know how they fare past that.
I honestly cant fault it structurally or mechanically. The finish is spot on.
The only thing that annoyed me was the lack of a manual or any form of paper work that had anything to do with the rifle. The rifle basically came in a blank cardboard box with nothing but the rifle and mag etc.
I expected atleast a leaflet of some sort with the company logo and adress with the product model no. etc. I just cant see how a rifle can be sold without any documentation in this day an age where a pair of shoes comes with a safe use manual!
