Vet bring back Type 99

I have this in my photo album on this site but I thought I'd show it here anyway. This is my Nagoya Arsenal fourth series Type 99 that was brought back from Iwo Jima. It is correct in not having the monopod or aircraft sight wings. There is what looks like a bullet strike on the forearm and it has an untouched Mum and all matching numbers. The bolt face looks new and the bore is like a mirror. I won't shoot it because I'm afraid to hurt the stock any further and I don't want to restore the rifle at all, just preserve it the way it is.

Leave it just like it is, a great part of history. it does look like bullet damage to the forarm to me, I would not change a thing.

Nice, too bad about the stock, not the first I've seen broken like that.

The stock isn't broken it's splitting and seperating from drying out over the years, it could be repaired but I'm going to leave it for now.

I would not change anything either. Possibly bullet strike was from Sgt. Davis? Looks like strike came from right to left.

If it were mine I would put it in a good stock and save the old one along side. Just my opinion but I don't like to handle a splintered stock. riceone

I wouldn't change a single thing either and leave it as is. With all the matching parts etc, it looks like it's never been messed with at all. It's living history. Upgrade or repair would deter.

I would not alter the rifle at all. It speaks volomns of WWII history. Equipment, men, from both sides suffered greatly. This rifle appears to have been to war!! If you want an undamaged shooter then by all means begin your search. This rifle is an artifact from one of historys most brutal conflicts. Let it go at that!! My two cents!!

I have other Arisakas that are fine shooters, this one has a special place as a totally correct Type 99 and a historic WWII piece and I feel Honored to have it in my possesion. I just wish I could find out exactly who SGT. Bud Davis was, so far I have had no luck in the search. I think if I could find out I could save an inportant part of history from dissapearing.
