Good place to buy Enfield rifle

Hi,

New to the Enfield! Where will be a good place to buy the Enfield? I am looking for an Enfield rifle No.4 MK I preferably from 1943. I found one online that has the following description (Serial # MK417610. Manufactured by BSA in 1943, stamped "M47 1943"). I have Charles R. Stratton book and I cannot find this numbers. According to the book the code for BSA factory should be M47C. I also confuse with the serial number cannot find the MK in the serial number descriptions on the book.

Hi Alex, welcome to the forum, you can get answers to just about anything you like here.
Regarding buying an enfield we'd probably be unanimous in recommending Brian Dick of BDL ltd, you'll find them listed in enfield resource.com, he's a great help and very knowledgable. BDL have a website and it shows pictures of some of their rifles in stock. If you don't see what you're after you should speak with Brian as he has more and knows of others.

I'd call that a ringing endorsement for Brian...

Is the "MK" mark on the left side of the receiver and/or made up of dots? It may be one of those serial numbers put on by an importer. The serial number may be very faint on the left of the buttsocket.

2nd third and fourth votes for Brian at BDL. Never had a bad rifle from him, or bad advice either.

Yes, do the Brian thing you will get a true and genuine #4 Mk1 not something someone has cobbled up. Beware auction dealers (at least some of them) if you dont have a good knowledge of the Enfield rifle. Often Enfields are mis-labeled by sellers because they, honestly or otherwise, do not know the details of what they are trying to sell.

Ok this thread was a great help on the search I'm about to go on. I'm going after an Ishapore Enfield and I'd just as soon not come up with a junker. Thanks for all the info guys!:super:

Reckon he might have a magazine for a No.1 Mk. 3?

As suggested I contact BDL but he did not have the rifle that I was looking for. But thanks to Jona I contact Tom from East-West Military and he had the rifle I was looking for, in fact he also had a Mauser k98 (USGI bring back not Russian capture) and I was to week not to get it too. With this I will have a M1, Enfield and Mouser all from 1943. The Mosin I have is from 1931. Will report once I get the rifles, but include some of the pictures he send me.
