A world wide Milsurp Target competition/shoot, open to all Milsurps members, its not so much a comp but to see how each Milsurp rifle shoot.
As most members on this site are interested or have a Milsurp rifle to hand, being the serious collector or the novice or the first time owner of a Milsurp, (we have all been there at one point) I thought it would be good to have a quarterly shoot/comp throughout the year.

Milsurp Target Competition and Shoot
Nice idea. I'd suggest the course of fire is 5 consecutive shots, all of which count. I'd suggest the target is a circle, top half of which is black, bottom half of which is grey.
Thanks Rob, Five shots would be the norm, the target is up to the member what he does with it, as long as its kept to the original, dimensions.

As some milsurps shoot better than others, just a thought here not a suggestion, I'd be very interested to see what 5 rounds on the same target at 100 yards mausers create, and what enfields, no1 and no 4, and what 91/30's do, That would be a very interesting group of targets to compare.
Perhaps we create this as one more category, or simply choose a group from the targets submitted, that we pick a best target of each type of rifle and lay them beside each other? We could then see what size of group each type of rifle can do?
I'm up for it!

Sounds fun! Is there any way we could have a link to a target to print, or download a .pdf file of an 'agreed' target?
Thats the idea, but as regards to agreed target, I,ve left it up to the individual, if you want colour it, make it in to a "Tin Hat" then its up to you, as long as the ring dimensions are the same.Quote:

For many of us, opportunities for competition with old service rifles are rare and expensive - because of travel costs. And you can usually only enter with one rifle, thus leaving others unused at home. I therefore propose that multiple entries should be permitted, in order to "activate" more old rifles.
This proposal will encourage more "armchair shooters" - of which I am temporarily one - to actually get our rifles out of the gun cabinets and do some serious target shooting with them. And having lost the 2011 season because of my shoulder, it would be fun to be able to participate in something.
I don't know what the PL7 target looks like. The target we are familar with over here is the internationally used ISSF pistol target with a 25 cm black, 5 cm "10" and 2.5 cm "10x". Could we Europeans please have some dimensions and a link to a downloadable copy of the PL7?
My contributions to the forums have always been focussed on getting the old bangers in action again. This proposal is just the thing to encourage that!

A section for training rifles - so that my No. 8s and my baby French trainer in .22 short can finally participate in some kind of competition! If you look at competition activities, you will find that trainers are left out in the cold - not competitive against modern small-bore target rifles, and excluded from full-bore competitions. I think that a great many of us possess one or more trainers that could do with some competitive exercise!
And I know several shooters who have had to give up full-bore shooting because of physical frailty - often neck or shoulder problems. The lack of opportunity for competing with a trainer forces them into the position of "armchair shooters". Give them a chance to get off the sidelines!

OK, now I'm a bit wiser.
The target I was referring to (ISSF pistol) is apparently that which you know as the PL8 - i.e. the 26x26 cm replaceable center section of the PL7. So whatever you call it, we're talking about the same size of black! These are indeed easy to trim to A4 size.

10 ring = 50mm
9 ring = 100mm
8 ring = 150mm
7 ring = 200mm
6 ring = 250mm

i´ll keep it. It is a ISSF target that fits to the dimensions.
Its up and running now Gunner on the "Range reports show us how good you are" forum, its a sticky so will remain in the same place, for all those who will be taking part I will need the basic details when I list the results, The catagory, the rifle you are using= make, model,and calibre etc.Quote:
