That doesn't surprise me, I've seen that movie a dozen times and never noticed. It seems they would throw Krags, 1903s and M1917s together and no one cared.
I caught that also, awhile back.In the 1930's hollywood aquired a good number of Krags as movie props. Krags were used in the movie The good Earth and I even seen the in Gene Autry movies> its fun to look for Krags in movies of that period
In one of the episodes of 'Hogans Heroes' I swear I saw Sgt Schultz carrying one.
Schultz was noted for the Krag he carried. Each and every show that his rifle comes to view, if you check you'll see it's the Krag.
The CMP probably sold SGT Shultz's AND John Wayne's Krag about 2 years ago. I saw lots of them at the South Store with blank adapters in them and marked with RKO and MGM logos on the stocks. Too rough for me at the time, but now I wish I had bought one.
I found this on the net. It's a Krag! I don't have a clue what the left side photo is all about though.

Here are my two. The RKO was from the North store and the Fox Studio was a private purchase. Shultz had a different Krag many times. I would see one with tiger stripes then a beat up one with no staking swivel and then a normal with swivel. He apparently would pick up what ever was in the gun room. Rick B

As a prison camp guard, it would be within reason for sgt schultz to have been issued a krag...
There was a run of about 1000 norwegion krags that were accepted as substitute standard issue for the german army......

This norwegian Krag is currently for sale in Germany, I believe it's one of the pieces that were manufactured by Kongsberg for the Wehrmacht as it shows WaA-markings.

I want the Norwegian I saw just the other day. It was a full left hand version! Not really, the old film had been flopped. It was in the old "Secrets of War" series narrated by Charlton Heston. They were taking about the invasion of Norway and showed a Norwegian shouldering a Krag with bolt handle and magazine on the left.
