I found these photos from a book that was published in 1915 and was able to find some nice photos. First photo of British Cavalry with the Hotchkiss Portative using the bipod, most photos of the Hotchkiss Portative show the small tripod. Second photo states "Canadians Arrive in France"
Correction, the title under the Hotchkiss Portative photo was incorrect - they are Belgians and the Hotchkiss is in 7,65mm
That sounds better. They didn't look like British anything...
Photo caption states "ammunition being escorted from magazine in Hyde Park, London, for shipment to the front.
With LL rifles I think?
Could they terriers? I mean territorials. And notice they aren't wearing any equipment.

correct Jim, early rifles without the buttstock slot, difficult to find rifles with the magazine swivel and without the sling slot in the buttstock
The ammunition escort at Hyde Park ... I see the Tommies on the right of the wagon (left in the picture) are sloping their arms over their right shoulders(as I would expect), but those on the other side are sloping on the left shoulder !
Is this normal drill for an escort ?
