For those of you who have never gone to this show before, you should try to at least once ... :)

Knob Creek (Kentucky) Gun Show - April 2006
This is a really fun event, which I think many of the milsurp collectors here would enjoy. Besides the huge display tents with vendors selling everything and anything related to firearms, there's the massive range shoot. Attendees can pay (rent) to shoot everything from old Gatling guns, WW1 Lewis machine guns, WWII 30 and 50 caliber Browning MG's, German MG34 and MG42's, every automatic rifle you can think of, all the way through to flame throwers and artillery pieces.
Can you imagine crossing Omaha Beach against German MG42's? After you watch this, you can see that the special effects in the first 20 minutes of the move "Saving Private Ryan" aren't far off what must have been the real thing. In the pics below, I think that can of WD40 hanging off the WW1 Vickers was even dated 1917. ;)

It is worth noting that Knob Creek is in Bullet County, Kentucky.
and Bullet County is DRY!!!! Radcliffe and Sheppardsville are OK
I always take a vacation day on the first day of the shoot, so I plan on seeing Brian on Friday. He is bringing me up a few items and I am dropping off a Savage MkI and MkI/2 for him to do some work on. As breakeyp stated, he always brings nice things with him.
I set up today. It's raining and crappy out but should be clear and cool for the weekend. I look forward to seeing y'all.
And noisy! Esp. if that fellow with the short barreled .50 cal. M2 still sets up near the pole barn.
I went a few times in the early 1990's and had a blast. The whole town turns out and back then the Girl Scouts helped sponsor it and worked the parking lots selling calendars and cookies. Good fun for all.
Had a great time at KCGR today. Was able to spend some time talking to Brian which is always a learning experience, it is a shame that it is only twice a year. The only No4 I saw, besides the ones sitting on Brian's tables, was a 1944 Long Branch No4 T. I do not know much about the LB T's, but based on a discussion I had with Brian and another forum member, it seemed to be legit and at a very good price. I'm not a big LB guy, but would have considered getting it had I known more about them and a little extra cash. Half of the cash I had on hand today was spent before I got there, but that is for another thread I will be posting.
Hey Troy, I finally got a chance to look at the LB "T" this morning. Nice rifle and and honest. Unfortunately, the barrel is ruined. It would need to be replaced. It's been fired with corrosive and left uncleaned at some point. Damned shame.
What about someone taking Brian a cooooool can of coke on this sunny October afternoon at Knob Creek. Help him cool down a bit!
Brian as always had the best British stuff at Knob Creek. He made my day by having six manuals on the British L96 Sniper rifle. Many thanks Brian and Peter for reproducing them.
Peter, don't let Brian take credit for getting you the Sten cover, I found it and gave it to him to send to you with the next shipment.
Knob Creek was great as was the OGCA show in Cleveland and a little show we had in Michigan on Sunday. Three shows in one weekend does take a lot out of you. We drove 1000 miles in three days.
