The gas cylinder's silver. Look at the rear sight. The barrel of a carbine's long and skinny. This one's thick out to the front. The sling is leather, you can see the loop that joins the long and short parts at the bottom in front of his arm.

No, not an 03A3...
With no magazine, rear sight profile and the tell tale lower stock profile, it looks like it is a Garand. Also, in a blow up you can just make out the gas cylinder with no finish on it.

Duh...no magazine. Case closed.
I blew it up again and, yup, you can see the gas cylinder, definitely either silver or what Bill said.
Garand it is.
If its the m1 carbine it took more than 1 round to put em down and keepem down Regards 1566 mr jerry
i vote m1 garand ,horse shoe on rear of reciver. can't be a 03a3, no bolt handle.
