Can't see a scope, just the hider. It must be cold if they have the flaps down on the Pyle caps, you would sweat your ears off if it wasn't.
Looks like two BAR's, one with carry handle and bi-pod, one without either.

The shouldered BAR is an M1918 and the carried BAR is an M1918A2. The M1918A1 has the bi-pod mounted on the forestock and gas tube.

Are you sure Bill? I doubt there were any 1918's left by Korea. I'm sure they're both 1918A2s, one with the bipod and flash hider removed.

In Caidin's book he describes how they loved to take BARs on patrol because of their firepower and stripped them down as much as possible for weight reduction. One guy even cut the barrel down but gave it up because of the fearsome muzzle blast and blinding flash.

Nope. Look again. The 1918 was select fire and never had the low rate parts in it's butt. This is why the buffer tube in the 1918 is about an inch shorter than the A2s . On the lead gun you can see the buttplate with the hindged fold up plate , an A2 stock , not a 1918 stock which used the 1917 rifle buttplate. Usually they unscrewed the flashhider , removed the bipod , and reinstalled the flashhider. This man removed the flashhider and bipod and left them off. The front sight cover is a U-shaped hood that slides over the sight block from the front with a ring under the front edge that goes around the barrel . The spring washer / spacer slides on in front and the rear of the flashhider holds them in place along with the rear of the bipod head which is riding around the rear half of the flashhider . With both the flashhider and bipod removed , there is nothing to hold the washer and sight hood on , so they have to go , too.
