17 inches long. Push button release. 31 written on heel Fluted blade First thought it was a plug bayonet. Can't be with push buttons.

Pretty sure that is French, but can't tell you for what rifle.
French MAS M1936 Bayonet
Looks like an early one as they didnt have the holes in them to allow the locks to be released when one bayonet was used to join two rifles together. later models had a hole added. There are also variatiosn in the knurling that can help date the tings roughly.

Many thanks, apparently cadets got very found of locking two rifles together using the bayonet, it is stored reversed in the rifle leaving one mounting sticking out that anotehr rifle coudl then be fitted too. Not havign a MAS i am not sure but the tale sounds good, possibly the hole was added to allow cleaning but the tale sounds better ;-)Quote:

Carl, I just don't get why someone would want to lock two rifles together muzzle to muzzle...even if they are Mas rifles.

Hello All. I would like some help regarding the identification of a hooked quillion for sale. The dealer is dugup. Although it appears to have already been sold I was very tempted at that price. But after doing some research and reading some of your threads I backed off. What do you think?
