A New Carbine Today WRA 1,030,621
Looks like a great memorial weekend :dancingbanana:
Today (Friday) I picked up the Spring Tube WRA 1,030,621 that I had to make payments on.

Looking for wear patterns
Last Of The Dirty Pictures
Wow! A real, non part swapper early gun
The photos are terrific Charlie. I've never seen an early one up close.
Your wear pattern photos made me want to ask you: Have you ever noticed that the recoil plate leaves an unmistakable finger print in the wood? BQ pointed it out to me years ago when my Winchester came up with an Underwood Recoil plate. That wood was etched with a perfect match of the machining marks of the recoil plate.
That early Winchester is an amazing find.
Recoil Plate To Stock Wear Pattern
DaveHH,
I took the Recoil plate off today, Even though I had told myself I wouldn't, but did anyway because I just couldn't leave it without knowing the plate was oiled inside and out.
These might be hard to see, so I'll post a few pictures.
Hoping you can see a Circular impression left on the stocks recoil seat and the same circular ring on the bottom tang of the recoil plate.
I'm also wanting to pull the Butt Plate, knowing that most will rust from the inside out. After the first 2 attempts I almost gave up because it was being so stubborn and I didn't want to break it, or booger up the screw slot but it finally came free. But now the Plate won't budge. So that plan is on hold for the moment. I do hope that later I can pull it, so I can clean and wipe a light coat of grease on the inside of it. If their real rusty inside I usually use that Rust Converter that neutralizes rust, turning it black, then grease and re-install it.
Any way, heres a few pictures for you.

Parts Id', Cleaned and Re-assembled
I give up trying to take the Butt plate off.
But I've got it all back together with the parts Id'd and everything cleaned/oiled.
Will have to take a couple of last photos with the sling and IW oiler installed.
It's been fun sharing this with all from the time I picked it up right thru tearing it down...etc.
A few final pictures for you posted here.
Give me a few days so I can organize the picture file and add some titles and descriptions, then I'll post the link to this album for any who'd like to see.
At this time I have roughly 260 or so pics. Rust I can barely see by eye, jumps at me using the close up shots with the camera set on that Macro setting.
Appreciate everyones help,
