Current C&R Collection - World War 2

Decided to post my collection online. Started little over a year ago with a C&R and a Garand. And several 'grand' later I end up with this. All bayonets are original & correct except where noted. The picture indicated the models and the manufactured dates. The pride of the collection is a very early Remington M1903 manufactured in December 1941. What's not shown are over a dozen books purchased researching these firearms.

My favorite to shoot are the M1's. My favorite bolt actions are the Enfield's - they operate like silk.

I tremble in the presence of milsurp collection. :bow: I am also working on WW2 bolt action collection, I currently have a Type 38 Arisaka ( that’s the one that started it all ), a 1932 hex receiver Mosin, a 1945 8mm Mauser (Turkish) and my pride and joy (when I started to tell my wife about what I saw at the gun show she put her hand up to stop me and said " just go get the damn gun") a 1943 Springfield 1903a3. I'm still looking for an Enfield, a MAS-36 and a Carcano. Seeing your collection has inspired me to keep looking.

That is a nice collection, especially with the correct bayonets for each. Are you looking to replace the No. 5's with an original at some point?

Personally, I have several war dated Enfields, all No. 4's. Want to add a No. 1, MK III and a No. 5. Also looking to add a Russian Mosin Nagant Model 1891/30 or two.

$500 for a matching No 5 Bayonet seems a bit high to me right now. Similiar for the M1 Carbine (which BTW is not WW 2 correct - except for the last month of the war).

If you wait out your time, the odds are a good blade will drop into your hands from somewhere. If you put in the leg time...

Nice grouping. Do not forget the Finnish Mosin Nagants. Sad to see I might have more competition for an original No 5 bayonet. Have you found the C&R helpful in expanding your collection?

C&R was essential. All of them are mail order except the M1 carbine. Gun shows in Kalifornia are useless for WW2 collectors (overpriced & very small section). Most local gun stores don't carry older guns and typically charge 20% more than searching for deals online. The Finnish Mosins are on my list after my wallet gets out of rehab. :)

Nice collection. If you don't mind me asking, how much was the Canadian Enfield? I don't see either SVT-40, whats up with that? :D

The Canadian Enfeld was $365 in good condition. I wish I cound get more semi-autos but SVT-40's are out of my price range. For the same reason several handguns are out - Lugers and 1911's are compare to the price of silver in $ per pound. Crazy!

Maybe you need to range a little farther North. The Bakersfield and Fresno shows always seem to have quite a few milsurps.

great collection , as stated above just watch carefully and you will find the authentic bayos - place holders are fine but dont invest too much in those ,

to the second photo poster - the 03A3 was made by remington and smith-corona , not springfeild , which did you get ? looks like a fine rifle

Nicely done! I am working on a similar collection.

Currently I have a Mosin-Nagant '91/30, M44 and M38.. a Lee Enfield No4 MK1, K98 Mauser and an M1 Garand.... Next is a type 99, maybe a 6.5 mm Carcano, maybe a French Mas..... You have great rifles...

I have three WW2 Garands, two M-1 Carbines (postal Meter & Inland), Winchester 1897 Trench Gun, two 03A3 Springfields and a Colt 1911A-1 Lend Lease that went to Britain and came back home in 1952 according to what's stamped on the left side of the dust cover. That's about the extent of my US collection thus far.

It seems tome the price of all bayonets, except the MN ones, have increase percentage wise more than the guns they go on. I was recent looking for a bayonet with scabbard for the Dutch Hembrug New Model #4 carbine. The best OI could do was $375 for a decent one. Even the french eppe bayonets for the Lebels and Berthiers are in the $150 price range.

That is a nice collection. Great way to show what they are. What program did you use to label them like that?
Its inspiring me to gather the ones I have bayos for a take a pic of only them. Probably about 15 or 20 of them.

A Finnish Bayonet for a M39 Mosin starts at $350. It gets crazy when you start to think about it. The only 'expensive' one I have is the 1942 UC on the M1903. I was lucky on that one and paid about 20% under market.

That is a nice set of rifles Sir. Like one of the other fellas said, put in all the leg work you can and you will be rewarded with the missing pieces.

Nice start. I too started out with the goal of getting a representative piece from every country in WW2. I eventually got them all and then decided to specialize in US military rifles of all vintages. I eventually got 95% of them. Now where do I go?:confused:

Wow! He not only collects long guns, he plays the violyn too. Or is that a fiddle hanging on your wall?

I also see what looks like a second pattern P1853 Enfield. Is it?

Very nice collection
The lowly Lee Enfields are smooth aren't they? Funny to hear an American say they are smoothest. I've read claims that LE's are the fastest cycling bolt action in the world.
It must be like admiring the neighbors wife, but...I'm Canadian and I find the US Springfield Krag to be a smooth as a Lee Enfield.
Of course that may be because Krags are rare up here and LE are common as dirt; mostly Bubba'd, but cheap and everywhere.
But again, an enviable collection.
