Time to pick your brains.

The last couple of rifles I picked up are a 1913 Enfield Sht. L.E III and a 1918 Enfield Sht. L.E III*.

The 1918 has a motty barrel, PH5a rearsight, Taylor foresight and is setup as a target rifle, the bore is great and a 301 gauge just makes it thru. Matching numbers.

The 1913 was also setup as a target rifle, but I have put it back(almost) the way it should be, there are a couple of details yet to correct.
The bit that is giving me a headache is the butt disc, I have checked both PL's and IDS's books , the best I can surmise is HongKong VDC, the other bits elude me, I maybe way off.

This rifle is in bloody good nick for something that has been around the world and maybe the odd conflict or two, rebarreled in 1923, copper recoil lugs fitted and all numbers match.

So hook in boys, tell me what I've got. You will notice I went backwards with the forewood on the '18, I took the newish Slazenger one off and put a battered pommy one on, at least this way the hump for the volley sight is there.

That Motty rifle is a real collectible and I love your shot of the bedding around the H barrel, a unique bedding pattern.

So muffer the 1913 rifle was also set up as a range rifle but not heavy barreled?

Yeah Homer, a light barrel, firmly cork bedded as was the Motty, it's a pity I didn't shoot them before stripping, but being an Armourer, caution always wins out.

Forgot to add, centre bearing was removed, replaced when reconfigured, all the missing parts were there in a tobacco tin with some cleaning gear.

well Ned, I know you think I'm a dinosaur, but the only connection I had was being freinds with Stan Edwards son.
Stan was the brother in law of Harry Motton and the main driving force between them, if it wasn't for Stan, Harry would never have put many of his designs into production, hence the Edwards and Motton connection.
Young Stan(son) was an old man when I knew him, he was the chief range officer for the NRAA, died a few years ago.

Finally got a bit of range time with this pair, a bit disappointed, at least one of them should do better.
Up to now it's been bloody wet and miserable, as it was, it was blowing a gale, hence only a couple of groups from 100yds.

Attachment 35360 and this from the Motty, it seemed to be fouling rather excessively, may not be run in?
Just need to do a bit more work then give them a run at longer ranges, before my Range is forced to close.(don't you just hate progress?)
