A rather clean classic Parker Hale, and thanks to a milsurps.com member

Hi folks,

Usually I like to work on, shoot with, or occasionally own, original military Lee Enfield rifles. This one is slightly different; it's a classy Parker Hale sporter. Now, thanks to member paulseamus (who very generously accepted to part with some rare PH rings), it can have a scope! :) Really happy to see it with scope, rings and base, it's been an interesting parts hunt over the past 6 months.

Before anyone mentions, yup I know this rifle deserves something classier than a new Tasco scope, but at the moment that's the only spare I have... :D

Also missing is the front tight hood, hopefully I'll find that too as some point.

I don't remember which Parker Hale model this rifle is, anyone remembers what it was called?

Indeed, I think that's it!

Eventually I need to find a front sight hood and a good butt pad, but the toughest parts (scope mount and rings) are on it, and I'm happy :dancingbanana:

This is the Custom No4 I had a while ago

Lou not all the Custom No1's had the butt pad some came with the plate it depends on the length of the butt.
My No4 Custom's -- one has the flat butt plate and therefore a longer butt the smae overall length as the other Custom with the Butt pad.

Again just to make it obvious -- when put side by side the butts are the same overall length the butt on the butt pad installed rifle, is cut back the inch or slightly more to maintain the same length.

You can see in the catalogue page above the two rifles with whatever butt end you wished to order.
That does not mean that you cannot install a pad I personall like a longer butt at six foor seven I really like the long butt on mt lee's

Lou here is a pic of the Parker Hale sporters. They are not exactly side by side the non butt pad rifle is slightly behind the butt pad rifle but you can see that they cut back the butt pad stock to make them the same overall length.

Thanks Terry. Could I be so bold as to ask you if you could measure and tell me what the butt length is, so I can check my own butt :D

I'd like to see if the rifle I have just had a pad removed and a plate installed for a shorter length of pull...

GODDAMMITT - been after one of those PH sporter models for ages. They look fabulous.

Lou it is easier than measuring the butt length just look at the butts in my picture -see how long the butt is behind the cheek piece on the butt plate butt the length is much longer ehereas the butt pad stock is much shorter behind the cheek piece.

To be honest -- these rifles are probably behind many rifles in that one lockup and I don't really want to move them all right now.

Lou....overall length. A) Curved Plate 14" B) Flat 1" Pad 14.5". Parker Hale cut .5" off and installed a pad. Hard to find either a PH buut plate or a pad. Could go with a red decelarator pad. Yous looks to be set up for a pad. Ron

Thanks guys. Actually Terry you are right, I spoke to quickly; just the look of the left side of the butt stock is enough to tell! I think mine is either exactly like your padded one, or maybe 1/2" longer. I will likely start looking for a butt pad. Anyway my shoulder could use it these days.
