Anything special about my I.B.M.? picture heavy
-
My 3.81 IBM has no bomb or date on the barrel. :( Yours was probably made just prior to mine - I think December was the last month they dated the barrels. Some of those parts look like they may be Standard Products and National Postal Meter. I see an early Type 1 ejector in there. I don't know without looking if IBM received any recoil plates from Saginaw. The trigger housing has the Type 5 oil/drain hole modification. I have that same repro sling on mine - got it at a gun show. Even though that mark on the barrel band looks like J.M.O., I think it's J.M.Q. - J. Mueller Furnace Co. for Quality Hardware - not positive on that one. Wish I had your SA stock - it's a lot nicer than mine. Good looking Carbine! - Bob

The circular milling marks shown in your picture (by your little finger) look like Winchester - not all theirs were marked with a "w" - also the nose of the handguard looks taller and blunt. I was thinking the same thing as Charlie, probably because I learned this from him. ;) - Bob

Interesting, So would I be correct in thinking this is just a nice mix master M1?

I'm no expert on IBM's, but you are probably correct. Does it have any import marks on it? Either way, it will always have decent value and that will increase over time. To me, it doesn't look like a recent "put-together." - Bob

no I agree not a recent put-together. It does have a VERY small import mark under the forward bottom of muzzle.

What trigger housing is that? National Postal Meter?
-
Well now you need a Winchester, Standard Products, NPM carbine to use all those nonIBM parts. Hopefully, when you buy them, they will have some IBM parts.
A Winchester HG and a N-9 trigger housing.

she will stay the way it is. After all it is the rifles history.
