I´d almost given up on finding another BP enthusiast (apart from Patrick C) on the site. I´ll have to post a video of my Werder carbine in action.
dear sirs
I shoot a original werder 69 rifle 11x 50 R,and the pistol 11 X 35 R,reload only with nitro vitha n110 or n340 ,cases made from 43 spanish for the rifle and ex .348 win for the pistol ,works very well to me
size the rifle bullet to .454 ex .358 /385 gn , for the pistol I use a ex .458/ 300 gn lead bullet also resized to .454 and 10 gn of n110
Greetings from jarmann
I find the Werder mechanism fascinating. As the carbine uses the shorter Werder ammunition, the problem of being able to purchase brass is acute. Buffalo can no longer export brass and the only German manufacturer seems to be Horneber, who only does a production run when there´s sufficient demand. I´ve still got about 40 rounds. I only use BP with the Werder and am still looking for an original cavalry shoulder sling and carbine hook. I´ve been told that the Mauser `71 cartridge case would be appropriate but am sure that the Bavarians had their own. But had some success in finding an original (but falsely numbered) Werder combination tool.

when you have the matrizen you easily reform .348 win cases thats the cheapest way ,it's only a question of shortening and annealing ,the 71 mauser case also works I tested one ,the 43 spanish works perfect but is the most expensive (bertram )
you found found the tool it at waffenhandel spessart ?
for the sling you find a exact copy's at ( ledermanufaktur Zimmermann in Halle ) he made me a werder rifle one the mauser 71/84
no tension problem with the omega spring ? I had to make spacers fur beide waffen to give harder blow on the primers ,
with die pistole I had a problem removing the grips ,had to make a copy bolt ,the inside gripframe was very rusty ,the pistol is not made of a ex carabine (serial number under pistol barrel) many were rebuilt ) is your carabine made by francotte in lutich ???

SO MANY QUESTIONS
Very happy to hear from you, jarmann! I got the Werder tool off e-Gun. Zimmermann hasn´t been able to find the original sling I´m looking for (a shoulder sling with a carbine hook). How does the re-formed .348 case work as it doesn´t have the Mauser base?? There´s a place here that has quite a few Werder parts: historica-shop.eu. I´ve got a spare omega but my original is ok. I could (I suppose) get it heat treated if ever it goes soft on me. Yes, it was made in Lüttich and at Amberg. The more I work on the butt with linseed oil, the nicer it looks ... has a very nice sheen on it. The action has cleaned up nicely and the barrel is still quite well blued. I wouldn´t mind having a go at a pistol (if the price doesn´t rocket).
lieber villiers
when you have the intention to restore your carabine stock I can give you some hints to clean it up ,but I 'm sure you know all
methods of entfetten und ironing out bumps ,as long the wood fibres are not broken !!!!!
all parts of the rifle are white (blank poliert )the butt plate is marked 9 J (9th jaeger regiment) this unit operated at last near Beaugency the 10/12/1870 and was put on rest according considerable losses ,they lost 604 jaeger and 12 officers, they started the invasion in july 1870
I can use the .348 cases with flat base ,same for the 43 spanish in the pistol
I know the historica shop but they only had omega springs for pistol or carabins
heat treating a spring is a experts job they told me (question of heating the right colour and cooling in oil or in molted lead )
spessart asked 200 eu for a tool
I found the pistol in holland for 1600 eu including dies and 30 cases Rolly in france asks 2500 eu at the moment
till next chat

I found he m
Ok Jarmann. Made a healthy pfrofit on the Werder tool. Pity it´s not the right number. Thanks for the info on the .348 & 43 Spanish. Am still waiting for the Horneber cases (Johannsen says they might deliver in June/July). I couldn´t go that high for a Werder pistol and it´s a bit risky bidding for a gun unseen on e-Gun. My carbine is marked 6ChR with a 2 underneath. I take it that it stands for Königlich Bayerisches 6. Chevaulegers-Regiment (Light Horse) who served at Sedan in `71. If I can get it uploaded, here´s a pic of a 6th Ch.L. on a horse who (I´m quite certain) has your pistol!
lieber viliers ,
the pistol is marked 251CR5 and striped twice , restamped 1A3 little 13 on the back side above the grip apptierungs years of differend units little 1877 and bigger 1872
I think CR stands for cheveauleger ???? or cavalerie regiment ???
the A could mean artillerie ???? auf die kolbe eindruck GF und waffen nummer 629

Can´t quite make out whether my carbine is stamped ChL or ChR (think it´s ChL).
Have been through Flanders (several times) and it always fill me with dread, seeing all those miles of WW1 military cemeteries where countless Brits, Canadians and other Dominions lost their lives.
lieber villiers
your name sounds french ,but seem to be common in the UK is that correct ?
found the same name in the book from taylor downing " spies in the sky :secret battle for aerial intelligence during WW2 " of a certain david villiers who served in medmenham centre .
greetings from jarmann
ps .do you have shooting experience with the lee metford mk 2 rifle ?
No to all of that (especially of being .... French). Too young to have been WWII ... or to have used the Metford (just Suez and LE No. 4).
What do you think of the TWO (!) Werder pistols on eGun at the moment?
lieber villiers
found only one pistol on the egun site ,very nice piece, low serial number, certainly not a rebuilt carabine ,
I 'm not used to go on these auction sites have no knowledge how it works ,you have to register ???
Yes, you have to register, and there are indeed 2 Werder pistols on offer:

and

MY TEXT JUMPED AWAY !!! wrong button ,and I'm not drunk , my computer knowledge is even as limited as using auction sites ,at my age it's evident I think ???
you collect and shoot other rifles or pistols ?
I try to purchase a lee metford mk2 with the metford rifling ,a real challenge to reload for it I learned .....

thanks chadwick ,
found the 2 nd one ,to dark pictures to me to make a choice , prices are very low at the moment ,at the ROLLY site(france ) is one for sale 2500 eur, you have 2 rolly sites father and son cedric rolly lots of nice stuff prices to !!!!!!!!!!
greetings from jarmann
Can you give us a link to those two French sites?
Collecting can be quite a problem here. There´s a special `collectors´ licence, and I don´t know if you can even shoot your collection. No, I´ve just got the one Luger Parabellum (but with a l a r g e number of different barrels in both calibres (9mm & 7.65), shot regularly (usually under the heading `plinking´). :)
cher villiers
you just tap "pierre rolly " then you make a choice " pistolets et revolver" scroll on the fotos until you see the werder 69 pistol , and all the other goodies!!!!!!!!!!!!
for is son you go to " www cedric-rolly armes fr " very nice site with more goodies .......
I shoot every item of my collection we just need a schooters licence and a registration certificate that 's all
greetings from flanders fields ( wow the sun is shining to day at last )
