Well, okay. It is counterbored, but at least all the serial numbers are stamped match, none of that crappy electro pencil.

Oh yeah baby! I scored! :) I paid WAY TOO MUCH, but I FINALLY secured a matching non-refurb 1941 Sako M39 with a stright stock and burled wood!!!
These are the sellers pics. They don't do the rifle justince I think. Better pics to follow when she arrives :)
Non-import marked. Bore is somewhat worn, but lots of rifling left, shiny and not pitted :) Rifle has definitely served in the Winter War and beyond.

I got it at Collector's source. I knew about their having a few more expensive "select" M39's for quite a while but it took a fair bit to talk myslf into paying the asking price ;) They have one more staight stocked Sako like this one, but the wood isn't nearly as pretty, though overall the rifle might be in slightly better condition.

CS separated all the B-barrel, SkY, Puolustuslaitos marked, or 41 Sako straight stocked rifles out of their run of the mill M39's back when they brought them in. The select examples are individually listed on their website and were priced almost double the regular ones ;)

I've got two M39's from them including this new one. The other was a 44 Sako SkY, but it's a refurb. If they still had it, they would sell it as select too because it's SkY marked - SkY rifles always bring more money due to rarity and the collectors who collect only civil guard stuff.

As for an M27, I didn't find the M27 at all hard to locate. Put a WTB on CGN and about 4 or 5 guys will offer to sell you one within a week, I'll bet. Hold out for a decent one - alot of "dinked with" ones are out there. I'm personally looking for one at an attractive price that's inletted for a unit disk. I have the SUPER-rare disk and screws - just need the rifle now! lol... but it's pretty low on the list. First need a M28/30 and an M91/30 44 Tikka. :)

Must be nice to have gunshows with decent milsurps at them. But then again, if you have to live in Ontario to have them................;)

LOL - I live in Ontario and our local shows are nothing to brag about. Badger lives in TO though - chances are he and maybe 5 other people (one of them being his wife...) in the whole region are still conservative-thinking enough to believe milsurp guns are cool so the buyer competition factor works in his favor... ;)

OK, found this little beauty over the weekend... ;) shipping from BC though, so might take a while to receive it :(

I picked up a couple at the Brandon show a week or so ago.
Heres the first: a dewat unfortunately, but then again I already have a live one. I'll be eventually trading this (I hope) towards a rare piece.

After seeing the inflation on the military cooeys lately, I couldn't pass on this one, as it already had the upgrades. Come spring I'll drag it into the backyard and plink it a bit.

Just got this little fella into my grubby little hands. 1941 Izhevsk, non-refurb, exactly as-issued.
Only thing non-Russian is a small Finn capture mark. Everything else is original Russian matching, all correct 1941 Izhevsk right down to the smallest screw :) Even the Soviet stock cartouches and original shellac are all intact. The phrase "only dropped once..." comes to mind ;)
I figure this one went straight to the front in the Continuation War where it was quickly captured and spent most of the rest of the conflict in a rack or guarding the bakery. It's a nifty little time capsule bought for a very reasonable price :)

A 1947 dated Mosin Nagant M44, wearing a fresh coat of shellac......no choice, it was wearing BLO and that's just not right...neither is the Amber shellac, but it's close enough.

By upgrades I meant the rear peepsight and the Cdn sling. I paid $175 for this one, so I can live with that. It has the military stamps.
I just got the cert for it in the mail and sure enough, no serial number. If the sticker is on it, it must be under the wood as I don't see it.

The sterling is likely NZ or some other export as it has the crinkle finish. The Brit military ones were normally non-crinkle, I believe. It is cock and clunk.

Here, is what arrived in the mail today.....It's in Excellent condition, inside and out. Can't wait to shoot it, but I have to crank out some rounds for it first and wait for my three round clips to arrive. Anybody else, like these things??

I tink any Turk Mauser sling is correct. Try e-bay or any of the major US sellers of Turk Mausers.

As for ammo, youcan get the stuff from Grafs. I made mine by converting .348 Winchester brass. I use pulled Swedish 8x63R 214gr FMJ bullets. They shoot acceptably but not match-acurate. Some guys use larger .338 bullets and swage them down. These rifles slug anywhere from .321" to .327", so shoosing the right projectile can be paramount.

For dies I just use the Lee set. I had to order a custom case length gauge from them too as I use the Lee case trimming system, not a lathe-trimmer.
