CNo7 Mk1 evaluation.
Hello all,
I have been looking to purchase a Cno.7 and have a lead on one, and with the permission of the seller I am posting here for some opinions.
After reading the fantastic post on them here it gives an approximate value of $1500 cad for a mint example with its chest, however I'm not sure if this rifle fits that catagory.
It seems to be a nice "type 1" style marking early CNo.7, but the seller is wanting the high end of the approximate value. Numbers appear to match, bore is perfect, I dont believe it has the cleaning rods and jags. The magazine doesnt have the "22" stamp but it does have the feed ramp for the .22's, is this normal?

Type one should be a 1944. I was not uncommon to see mag without "22" stamped on left side. It should be blued as opposed to parkerized. Serial number would confirm type one. Can you post a picture of receiver and bolt showing serial numbers. It will tell me if correct. Stock should be walnut. Sight should be marked "C1". Good ones are tough to find and $1500 is not out of line. Ron my email rgg_7@hotmail.com

Just heard back and the serial is 0L439x, however there is no numbering on the back side of the bolt, just a "3" on the underside.

Serial number confirms 1944 Type 1. Bolt would be numbered to receiver so I'd be suspicious. Any info on receiver finish? Ron

The photos are in the first post and it appears to be blued.
Thanks!

Don't see pic's. If blued then it's correct. I'd still question unserialized bolt? Original lost, replaced from damage? Ron

Odd, are they not showing up for anyone else?

I'm not getting them

Nice looking rifle D-BOMB - you wouldnt feel bad about shooting it.
Several months ago a Longbranch Nr 7 was on a UK site at £3500 - BUT it was 'minty' (complete with box and all fittings) - as it came out of the factory. It went off the site fairly quickly so must have gone for a good price. Too good to shoot??
" If I was a rich man ----" but I'm not - and I consoled myself with my ersatz Nr 9. - these .22 trainers are hugely enjoyable to shoot.
I dont know how many you have across there but I cant see them depreciating anytime soon.

Sure:
The serial number is rather higher up the butt socket than I’d expect to see. Also the numbers don’t look as deeply struck and have more of a hand done appearance. The greenish hue to the receiver in the pictures suggests it has a park’ed finish where in ’44 you’d expect blued. This could of course just be the lighting. The lack of a serial number on the bolt is odd to be sure. I’m not quite sure what to make of this one. It doesn’t look like an original serial number was ground off of the lower part of the butt socket. Possibly a post war arsenal or unit level rebuild? Maybe but why no serial number on the bolt?
