I found this interesting odd ball at a shop in Pennsylvania. It is entirely hand made using an SMLE as the pattern. I wish the craftsman would have signed his work.
When the trigger is pulled, linkage moves the arm near the flash pan that is loaded with fine powder. The arm holds a lighted cord that ignites the primer charge. Wind and wet weather render it useless.
That's very interesting. I'd also like to know the originator. Just curious.

It looks like something made for a colonial territory - maybe a really old-fashioned palace guard in Africa or the Far East.

Made in the 1970s for the Trucial Omani Volunteer Camel Corps Cadets. (The question I´d like to ask is: why?)
