Iraq marked Long Branch No4 Mk1

I have picked up a Long Branch No4 Mk1 with a stock disk with the Iraqi ownership mark and what converts from arabic to 1843 on the same stock disk. Any ideas?

I have a No1 Mk3 with the Iraqi symbol. It's a 1954 Ishapore. Not sure how the Iraqis got it or how it got here

Here are a couple of pics. Rifle has no British proof marks, or Iraqi ownership marks. only Long Branch markings. Also, no import marks! Lots of wear on edges like most weapons that have been in the sand a while.

No. 4s do not normally have a stock disc. Could the stock be a No.1 adjusted to fit?

Full length pic might help. Don't the butt stocks have a different profile?

That is what threw me off, I have only seen disks on No1 Mk3 and older! There is Long Branch markings on the underside of the grip and the wood matches perfectly. It looks like the rear handguard has been replaced. Here are a couple more pics.

A hundred and fifty years ago after the Gulf War, I brought home a bunch of Iraqi Army marked personal gear. The "Figure 8 Fishhook" from the Iraqi Army was translated as 'Ja-ish' for me. Despite their recent Russian (and other influences) the Iraqi military has deep British traditions. To see national markings on their equipment makes perfect sense. To find a LB in Iraq doesn't really surprise me. Kit is kit, and Canadian troops processed prisoners wearing 1980's Canadian surplus uniforms, and British desert DPMs too.

Two.

First, is the Iraqi calendar the same as ours?

Second, the butt is from another rifle - did No 4's made in Canada have stock discs?

Appears to me that the two , "triangle-fishhook" stamps are not the same. On the first from the bar, the hook curves to the left of the dot. On the disk, the hook curves to the right of the dot. Am I going cross-eyed?

Nope .... The one on the disc definitely is the reverse of mine. All others I've seen have been like the number '2' up side down with the dot.

According to Wikipedia, the third letter in Arabic alphabets:

The Iraqi numbers are the right way round though.
