My LGS has one that is date 1950 with the "C". It is in decent condition, bore is a little dark but it is missing the magazine. He is asking $325. I'm just starting to get into Enfield's. My first Enfield is a No5 jungle carbine so I wanted to add another one but I'm hesitant with no magazine. I asked him about it and he said that is how he got it. Thanks for your help.

You should be able to get an un-marked mag with no big issue around $40 at a guess on ebay, I saw one last month. If the bolt and action serial numbers match thats the important thing. Then how good is it, wood etc. Here in NZ 1942 LBs in good nick would be $400NZ+ I assume yours has a 5 groove barrel? such a gun would be $500NZ+ assuming its in good condition. 1950's "C" I think are fairly rare? and certainly un-common in NZ, but Enfields seem extremely cheap in the US :(

A 1950 Long Branch was one of the nicest Enfields produced. I have one and the fit and finish is better than my other No. 4's and they can demand more money if they are in good condition. Before buying, make sure the bolt matches the receiver sn and try to get a lower price since the magazine is missing. A magazine would not be hard to find.
Price seems a little high, especially with a dark bore and missing magazine. It isn't what I would call outrageous however. Depends on the rest of the rifles condition.

Is it matching? I just got a all matching 43 LB. He wanted 400.00 so I traded a old Savage 110 deer rifle and 100.00 for her. He got the better deal but I wanted the LB. Besides I have other deer rifles!

The dark bore is not an issue, it's the muzzle that's important. If the rifling is well defined at the muzzle then it should shoot well. It has micro sights so that's a plus. It looks well used (the wood work) which is kinda cool.

Price at 325.00 is more than fair. Appears to be in pretty decent condition and as mentioned the dark bore isn't a great concern.

I am located in Canada and collect Enfields and others, If I found a good shape all wood original configuration Long Branch I would pay $325.00 without blinking, mag or not and would not be concerned if mismatched at that price, hey, you can barely buy a Long Branch sporter for less that $250 in Canada, if your lucky! If I was offered a Matched Long Branch without the mag I would not hesitate to buy at a lot more than $325. maybe just me but they are getting harder to come by
From what I have been seeing lately is that the milsurps have been cheaper up there than in the states. I would love to have a SVT 40 but here they go for $900+ and you guys can get them for $250! Just to get a SVT 40 from Canada would be pure hell and probably a lot of money to go through all the BS paperwork and fees. I'm still debating whether or not to get it. Money is tight and I thought of getting rid of two of my other C&R rifles but I was told that it is frowned upon selling when you have an 03 FFL.Quote:

FYI: SVT40 rifles have been banned from import to the USA since 1988. Lee Enfield rifles in Canada bring MORE money than they do here and there's a much smaller market.
