With that German camo pattern, would that be Normandy? ..... Frank
Those are EXCELLENT pics...
The German forces in Italy made wide use of Italian camo material for field made garments. I can not tell the color, but it could be Italian material. The 'Hermann Goring' panzer division made wide use of Italian and SS camo material after their transfer to Italy.
I'm not liking those pics one bit. It's just the thoughts of how they got into their hands.
That poses the question of whether or not there was a German bring back of a M1
I would think no, upon capitulation, they were sort of screened out of bringing back much of anything. Even a pocket knife would have been taken...
How about this GI with a Sturmgevehr!Attachment 46052
Neat...that he could bring back, but the Panther...not so much.

Kraut with Thompson -- looks like a drum mag, so probably taken from a Brit.
Vertical fore grip and canvas sling on the side...Brit or Canadian LL alright...
I wonder if that is the one turned in recently at a "gun buy back" in exchange for a Walmart gift card?
Hahaha....
Don't laugh, a woman in town threw her deceased husband's leather flight jacket in the trash with the nose art on the back and the missions on the front. He flew 25 missions in a B-24 over Italy.
How disrespectful.!! You just know she knew what it was. Where did it end up.?
The dump, unless the garbage man picked it out. His son went ape$hit.
