It looks like the perfect companion for "The Mahdi" - my Egyptian Remington.

Which also bears mysterious marks.

Please try and get a better pic of the butt disk - there may be a clue there, but I cannot read the markings.
I'll get a better pic of the disc on here. Nice Egyptian Remington! There's a gun shop up the road from me with one, thinking about getting it.
The marking on the barrel has 2 possible meanings, either Egyptian Police or Property of Egypt. It's believed that a firearm with this marking has Egyptian Police origins but its not clear if it translates as 'Police' or was a Egypt property mark only used on Police issued weapons. There are hundreds of Enfield and Webley revolvers with the same mark and I've seen a few Lanchester SMGs marked too.
Wonder why this one was not marked 'CITADEL'?
Anzac15: my own "Citadel" Martini Enfield had both sides of the body completely scrubbed- the Citadel and crescent with star are the only markings (on the left side). As far as the Arabic script marks go, mine has the same mark as yours on the barrel but an additional more complex mark on both barrel and receiver. The disk on the butt has rather different markings from yours although there is one common mark. The barrel was not replaced at Citadel but, rather, dates from the original conversion by the Henry Rifle Barrel Co. The lack of markings lead the fellow who sold this to me to think it was a Khyber Pass special. If I can find a photo of the Arabic markings I'll add it.

Photos of Citadel Rifle. Note faint hint of cypher on right side. Woodwork not great but very good bore. Have you shot yours, Anzac15? I'm reluctant to put modern .303 factory loads through it.

Ridolpho, nice rifle!
I have put about 200 rounds through mine so far, both surplus and commercial. It shoots beautifully, and is pretty darned accurate. Bore is pristine on mine. I think it's about my favorite Martini to shoot right now!
I'm with ANZAC15 . My Citadel is my favourite centre fire Martini and takes anything I feed it no problems. Shoots far better than I can hold. The bore on mine is also very good. The Citadels have come in for a bad rap in the past but the half dozen or so that I have been able to examine have been in very good shooting condition. The woodwork is not up to the normal military Martini standard and I go along with the theory that they were made from some local wood and not the Italian Walnut we are used to.
The marking on the butt disk is "S" above "39".
tr63: Very hard to say. Usually whenever any decent Martini Enfield (or Metford) comes up for sale up here the asking price is pushing $1000.00 (Canadian, of course). I've never seen another Citadel marked one for sale and I got this one for a nice $300.00 (pretty sure the previous owner thought it was a Khyber Pass special!).

Thanks for the reply . I have one on a lay-away And it comes with a socket bayonet that is correct for the rifle , The bore is very good with a excellent muzzle . The stock is sanded and with out any damage . The blue is very good . The price is $650.00 .I have been looking for a Martini Henry in .303 cal. for a number of years and this one is in the best condition of all I have seen . Any one up your way have a scabbard they want to sell to fit my bayonet ? The right side of the action is bare of any markings . the left side marked like yours with the date of 1909.
Ha ha....yeah, probably. I sold that rifle some time ago, wish that I hadn't! Have a line on another one, guy swears it's not a Khyber special. Going to get a look at it Friday. If it pans out, more pics!
Bump good to read.
"Citadel" and "Khartoum" marked MEs were assembled in those places with English made Parts, after assembly/repair of MEs finished in Britain...about 1905-1910.
The Egyptians scrubbed most of the Receivers, and other Parts, of their British Inspection etc. Marks. Some of the Lesser Parts were also made at "Citadel".
That's why the Locally assembled MEs look a bit "Khyber-Pass-ish", but they were made with the same Care as the British-built MEs, although their subsequent use and abuse, makes them look very "ordinary"

Can a rear sight from a M 310 Martini be fitted to a Martini Enfield ?
