Unfortunately my collecting days are over. It's no fun anymore. I live in New York where our Governor decided that there will be no more "internet" purchases of ammo shipped to New York residents. My local gun shops do not carry my ammo. If I can't order ammo on line, then all I have are milsurps in a safe. I don't want wall hangers. I want to shoot. No ammo, no shooting, no interest, no fun. The government doesn't need to take our firearms. Just our ammo. I'm done. :mad:

I feel your pain, but I ask all of our members not to turn this thread into a political tirade, since all we'd be doing is preaching to the choir anyway ... :thup:

Don't give up that easily. There's always a way around politicians. Maybe you have to stock up out of town and bring it back. Maybe you have to re-load for yourself. That's what I did and during this last shortage and famine, I didn't feel the bite at all...not one bit...there's no .22 on our Walmart shelves and hasn't been for months, but I have thousands...there's always a way you can beat this.

Re-loading is the male equivalent of knitting. I do it in a kind of bovine trance. Best done when everything else around you is getting hectic. I usually end up with more ammo than I need.

Good ole NY. Poster child for failure of government in the northeast. Bail and stop paying their high taxes. There are many friendly states out there to choose from including SC. Our Governor Nikki Haley got a new carry pistol for Christmas and posted a pic for all to see. There's also a big industrial park near Myrtle Beach that's filling up with north eastern firearm and accessory manufacturing companies who're bailing from the unfriendly northern states.
Maybe time to migrate?

Steven, I think I have the solution to your problem. It's quite simple, phone in your ammo orders.
That would be too obvious! But I like having it shipped to the local dealer solution as well. Given enough quantity or repeat sales, they might start giving some price breaks for prepaid orders, etc. Then both dealer and customer are happy.Quote:

Just looked up the law. Phone orders would be illegal also. The law requires "face to face" transactions and background checks and registration. You can still order online and on the phone but it must be shipped to a registered dealer. It is considered unconstitutional and is being appealed.

Arizona seems mighty "friendly"; at least it has always been that way on my visits there. Climate is a mite drier as well; shooting irons don't rust as fast there.

Don't give up! Right now in Canada, we may be on the verge of overturning nearly ALL of the draconian gun control measures that have been dropped on us over the last 20 years.
Our beloved RCMP decided about a week ago to ban about 20 000 so called assault rifles and confiscate them without compensation to owners. The fact that the police are making laws and that legal property is being taken from law abiding citizens has even outraged many anti gunners! The government has promised action and finds itself backed into a corner due to the wording of our Firearms Act. Any Canadians reading this need to write the Prime Minister's Office and the Public Safety Minister ASAP and demand action. This may be the only shot to stop the nonsense, and we just might get the chance to use and transfer prohibited guns like our FAL's again!
For you Americans, the Canadian gun control scheme has been touted as an example by the antis for years. If we can force it's utter collapse over the next few months, it will be a huge blow to the anti gun movement world wide! Root for us! We need all the support we can get!
