Hello,
Have added both the Swiss Products muzzle break and Clamp-on Scope Mount to one of my K31s.
The other K31 I will leave with the standard iron sights.
Any recommendations on a scope to match with this beautiful rifle?
Looking for input on both the scope selected and its applied use (target shooting at X range, hunting, etc)

I mounted a Weaver K4 60B with post/crosshair. Medium range all purpose.
You're going to get a lot of opinions, but this is what my Father had in mind for all of our scope mounts, both Clamp-On and Drill/Tap mounts. His reasoning is "The lower and closer to the axis of the bore, the better."

Latigo, could you tell me what scope that is you have in the picture? And when you said "fixed 6 scopes", did you mean fixed 6 power scopes?

It looks quite nice but it looks as though the ejection problems inherent in an over the action mount may be present. Or perhaps not after watching again.
kymauser, that one is a Swift (old all metal type) fixed 6 power. We also have a number of Leupold fixed 6 scopes.
The mount is a nominal .578 offset from the axis of the bore and brass has no problem clearing a 1" tube. All 4 mounts, the k31 Clamp-On, the k31 Drill/Tap, the 1911 D/T and the new 1911 Clamp-On mount have no problem with a 1" scope tube. In the case of the 1911's being both mounted on the let side (just like the M1D) would need the scopes rotated to the left it the turret was in the way of ejection. Doing that simply changes the elevation knob to the windage knob and vice versa.
People seem to forget that the M1D offset was/is more than our offset. If anyone is interested, Diaopter can explain the sighting in process with the rifle firing a .578 POI at 100 yards and that being the same out to 1,000 yards.
If you can see the difference between a .570 POI at 100 and 300 yards you're a better man than I am, Gunga Dihn! :D
This is (for me) the epitome of a scope for an off-set mount. Its a Swift Turretless fixed 8 power, rare and very hard to find. My Dad has even offered a $50 finder's reward, but so far, no luck. This scope has all metal inner workings. Look at the windage and elevation system with a slip collar that is 100% waterproof when screwed shut. Perfect scope for any SP mount. Here it's mounted on a FN. It does quadruple duty through the year.

I guess it would all depend on what you intend to do with the rifle. I shoot cast bullet matches upon occasion and since I have a cast bullet load that I know will hold 1", mine wears a an older Tasco 6x24x40 scope. It's bulky, but we shoot from the bench. The mount is an Accumount clamp on, definitely not parallel to the bore, I had to use Weaver windage adjustable rings. Without them I barely had enough windage adjustment to get on target at 100yd. The objective bell clears the rear sight by only about 1/8". Since it shoots the load so well, I usually shoot in the production class rather than the military class. I get to shoot smaller targets and also get to shoot more rounds.

If that Accumount is not parralel to the axis of the bore, then there's a definite problem.

Scope mounted. Ended up with a 1-4x for the distances available at the local range.
Now to Zero. Hope the temp warms up to above freeing this week!

It appears they machined it to be parallel with the receiver, which has a taper they didn't take into account. Bob S was quick to point out that taper to me when I was wondering about using a US made receiver sight or a scope mount like the Williams. The tail end of my scope had to come to the left to get parallel with the bore. I bought the mount when Johnny first started selling on ebay, I don't know if they've made any changes since.Quote:
