Was wondering what you guys would think about re stamping the serial number on the wrist of my No.4 to make it more legible ? All the other stamped numbers are quite clear but the wrist is very faded..

No, leave its original. Especially on a T. Any tampering will really hurt the value.
Thankyou! I felt in my heart that way but my head was thinking how nice it would be to have all the numbers looking sharp. Thanks again!
Re-stamping the serial numbers, that's the way to make a sow's ear out of a silk purse........possibly an illegal one at that.
appreciate it thanks..
It looks quite legible to me.
Thankyou Homer....I guess if it was more advisable I would have freshened up the "A"in the beginning of the serial and maybe the "3" in the 1943 but now I have reconsidered. probably not a good idea. if you have the time to look at my other photos the other stampings are quite clear. Thank you for the comments..!
Yes, restamping could make it "questionable". Who needs that.
Cheers
On the other hand................ We'd think nothing of overstamping a serial number if the original were illegible or otherwise indistinct (which yours ain't.....) As I often say, Fazakerley were past masters of the illegible marking trick!
Thanks Peter ! and Father Ted, I was just sitting here in the afternoon enjoying looking at my rifle and thought " What would the Boys think of this" And wrote the question... I have to ask something a little silly now and then . It's my nature I guess. Thanks to all that contributed.. Of course I will leave her alone!
I should have mentioned it at the time but I wouldn't mind betting that the moment yours goes into the bead blaster, that number will be obliterated - or all but! Good case of re-number and think nothing of it......
Thanks Buddy!
