What a nice "new" cartouche. The last few years it has become a buyer beware situation for most auctions. To the point of almost only buying from someone you know.
Stock is FUBAR BS from the get go!
I'm sure glad you guys are around ! I'm just learning and would have never caught that.
Thanks Chris
Its at $1075.00 with 4 minutes left.
Current High Bidder has 1 GB transaction.
Not a bad looking WRA, but that stock and the paperwork make it mis leading.

P.S.
SOLD !! $1,075.00
The potbelly stock screamed at me! UGH.
Oh come on now, that beautiful walnut stained birch stock is nicer than the stock on a Ruger 10/22.
Better then my 35 year old Ruger, it's plastic.

He's got a Saginaw S'G' up for bid at GunAuction that's reached $3,180 with 12 days to go.
Looks nice but that nice? Be interested what the experts think, it's good for my education.
Thanks

I don't know who JTD is, but I have a hunch he's from Southern, OR. At least he shows a picture of himself! I have a slightly later S'G' 1,829,xxx that is nearly identical to this one with the exception that mine has the oval cut stock. Nearly every other part on mine has the same markings as his, but my rear sight is different. S'G' assembled the rear sights using various components. My front band is U rather than UI and I don't see any bands integrated from Inland listed on that page in WB, but since GM owned both Inland and Saginaw it's probably OK - my sling swivel is the same. I can't see the maker mark on the front sight, but I can tell by other features that it's correct. This auction as well as the excellent pictures are in my opinion a good study on a very original appearing S'G' carbine. If I had that kind of money to spend, I would bid on it before I would on a lot of other auctions that have been studied here. If we get into more detail on this one, I have a lot of fairly good pictures of my parts for comparison. Is it worth that kind of money? I think so. - Bob
Same GB seller I posted about, offering a WRA Type I stock:

I just did a very quick search and it looks like they might be in the Beaverton area. It appears they've been at this for quite a few years. - Bob

He has sold more carbines then anyone else I have seen in years. He has sold a lot on the Auctionarms site. He does get top dollar for his carbines too. He does post a lot of clear photos of his auctions which might help his sales.
S'G' with orig I-cuts are hard finds, other then the rear sight abuse it looks orig as sin, I would hate to have to buy that stock on epay, it might bring half the present bid, it would make a lot of IP owners wet their pants
Looks like you can see type III band marks on the barrel.
Marcus I am wondering about the slide on the S'G'. Serial number would have been what no later then September 1943? Should be a type 3 slide then and not a type 4 as pictured? Type 4 slide was used in late fall 1943? What would be your thoughts?
I did some business with JTD a few years ago and never had any problems so unless something has changed I would trust him.
I think is possible
I wish this S'G' had it's own thread instead of mixed in here with the WRA. I'm wondering about the locating hole in the trigger housing? I know that it gradually changed to a partial hole and later disappeared. On my 1829xxx, the hole is still partially open. Mine has the Type 3 S'G' slide. How about that UI front band? I don't think the original WarBaby! showed the U that's on mine, but my sight hasn't been off, so I figure it's original. - Bob
