Was the No 4 Mk 4 AIA 'Classic' in 7.62 NATO ever available in the US? I've only ever seen indications that the M10 versions in 7.62 Russian ever got into the country.

Not to my understanding. The M10 7.62x39 carbine was the only one which I am aware that was sold here.
I have heard rumors of some that come in from the frozen north. I've never seen one for sale here, or know anyone who has one, or has seen one.

Was there not a story something along the lines of "the woodwork was manufactured in Vietnam and could not be imported" ?
I remember reading that some that got into the states were via Canada.

I was very surprised to learn that they had listed a US export model on their website. American Enfield fans have long been waiting to get their hands on the rifle. Because parts of the rifle were made in Vietnam importing it stateside would be illegal. Australian International Arms (AIA) Enfield clones are all new production and not made from surplus parts.
They are also banned for importation into the USA by the US State Department, due to some of the firearm parts being made in in Vietnam, which is a no-go firearm import/export country.
Several hundred AIA M10-A series were imported into the USA prior to the importation ban. They show up every now and then on auction sites or on the shelves of Gander Mountain stores (Gander Mountain was the importer for the AIA rifles), priced in the $600-800 range depending on condition & accessories.
The AIA M10-A series is chambered in 7.62x39mm and uses standard AK magazines.
The AIA M10-B series is chambered in 7.62x51mm and uses M14 magazines.

That makes absolutely no sense. Couldn't import these rifles because the stocks were made in Vietnam, but no problem getting Nike shoes (which are also manufactured in Vietnam) WTF. Sure would've been nice to gotten a hold of one. *sigh*

There is one for sale on Canadian Gun Nutz right now. Guy wants $1,100.00 Canadian. They are good shooters, heavy so recoil is pretty decent. A friend has a No4, mint and like most came from Marstar Canada.
I picked up a M10 B2 and a M10A1, rarely shoot them but have never been disappointed in their performance when I do.
I tried to check it out, one has to join the site first and I can't due to all the Canadian trivia one has to answer. Being 'Murican and all, I have no clue as to any nick names of royal regiments. Lol
Unless you are a Canadian resident you are not allowed to view the Wanted/For Sale forum - I have been a member for about 8 or 9 years - I used to be able to view (and even bought the odd bits & bobs) and then I couldn't, on asking why I was told, as I wouldn't be able to buy anything anyway, due to export regulations, they 'removed the temptation'.Quote:
