Finally got myself an Eddystone M1917

Picked up this Eddystone not too long ago for a very reasonable $400. Dates out as an October 1918 gun wearing a 9-18 barrel and appears to be about 99% matching, with the only discernibly non-Eddystone part being the Remington stamped striker. The barrel is in excellent condition, and she's a real tack driver. The stock has an Ogden Arsenal rebuild stamp. The topic of tip pressure has come up again recently, roughly what would you estimate yours to be? Very little or takes a good bit of effort to raise the barrel.

It takes very little effort. No more than a few pounds of pressure in my estimation.

Same with my rifle, maybe a few pounds and an excellent shooter.Well, that's two.

Do you guys know your MOA at 100yds? A friend's one does about 48mm ~ 1 3/4inch ish, with a worn barrel. Im going to an auction tomorrow and hopefully I'll pick up a P14 that is in very good nick, suspect I'll have to bid up to $800NZ for it though.

The next one I want is a 1917, then I'm set for the service rifle all American day

BTW try shiming the nose with 5 and 10thou brass and see if that is better or worse, I intend to if I can get the P14 tomorrow. My friend did so and pulled in 1/4MOA+ ie from over 2inch at 100yds to less.

I haven't shot any serious groups with it yet, mostly just take her out to stretch her legs. I'm planning on getting out to the range next week, so I'll report back with groupings then.

Well, hey, only about 7200 rifles apart. They may have been produced in the same week

My Remington with JA barrel is one of my most accurate rifles

My Eddystone 1917 is # 827801, 1918 year, and is still a tack driver @ 100 yards.
