Has any one loaded the krag with a 168gr BT ?
I've fired Sierra 168 gr. Match Kings in several Krags. There were no feed problems and my Krags liked them! I usually load with IMR 4895 or 3031, but experimented with this WW748 load last Fall.

Thanks
Try 45gr of 4831 with a Sierra/Nosler 168gr target bullet. Nice easy load.
Never had a reason to use 4831.
thanks
I've used Nosler 168s and get some pretty good groups from them. I've used different powders going for different velocities. One load, using a fast burning (Blue Dot range) surplus powder for 2000fps gave me some 1" groups. I've also used surplus Russian 4895 at a bit below max. I generally shoot model 92/96 rifles, they feed the spitzers pretty good.
Mannparks,
YMMV on spitzers feeding thru the Krag magazine. The '98s are especially finickey.
Good luck!

My '98 doesn't particularly like 150 FMJs...they hang up to the left of the chamber.
The dreaded 7 o'clock nosedive! Next time I run into it, I'll have to take the time to see just what mods are needed to fix it.
I have loaded several different 168's and 155's and 150 grain bullets. Feeding depends quite a bit on overall length of the finished round and condition of the rifle interior where the bullet guides into the chamber. Bullet style can also have an impact on how well a round will, or will not feed. I have also been experimenting with Varget powder instead of the traditional powders and have had pretty decent results so far.

Agreed Rick, I use 150 Hornady FMJ and they don't give me much room to seat forward. Wish I could. I may just change to a 180, 200 or 220 Rd nose cast. Which ever one gives me the longest straight side like the old 220s.
Then I'd recommend a NOE bullet mold. They make some of their molds a bit larger. For instance, I have one of their 311284 molds, bullets drop with a .302 borerider, perfect as most Krags have a .301 bore. Lyman molds tend to run undersize in this dimension. Even more appealing to me is the 314 & 316299 and other larger sized molds they have. If bullet fit is the most important thing when shooting cast, Swede makes it a bit easier to get the fit you need. I got one of their 316155 FN molds sometime ago, even though it weighs only 155gr, it has a fat nose that really fills the throat of a Krag, though loaded to an OAL of only 2.87" Most light bullets have to be seated out long to meet the rifling of a Krag, not this one. Swede has this mold on sale at the moment. I have other NOE molds of the .316 size too, I have some other rifles with worn bores, like a Mosin that slugs .316
That's all good info. I'll get hold of them later...I like the 4 cavity 212 gr GC bullet mould.
I ordered my 311284 with a hollow point pin installed in one of the cavities. The bullet sure makes a big hole in the red clay backstop where I shoot. Haven't shot anything alive with it to see what it does, appears it might be a bit messy with the hollowpoint though.
Mine will be mostly for Krag, some for 30 cal and my Husky model 1600 in .30 cal.
