I ordered one in. Going to use it to fabricate a bolt for my Brit No7 barrelled action.
Don't bother Hal, the geometry is totally different and it can't (?) be done.
Added later: If you want to get a bolt for your UK No7 rifle, then better start with an unserviceable No4 bolt and cut that short. Start/index the bolt head thread reasonably carefully and you're most of the way there.
The only other use for a No8 bolt, in my experience, is as a short bolt in a No4 action for whatever reason but even the rear unlocking cam groove (cocks on lifting bolt don't forget.....) geometry is useless for any other purpose
I ordered a bolt, ejector plate/feed ramp and trigger assembly. I have one barreled action left over from my heyday of importing, (the good old days). A New Zealand owned DA prefix BSA with a perfect barrel. Since I have a customer No.8 here for full BDL FTR, might as well do two instead of one.

I was surprised too. I remembered that the ejector plate was never available as a spare part. The advert was in my email on Saturday morning and I jumped on it. Now I can bring another lonely project rifle back to life.
I bought 3 of them on Saturday. After Springfield Sporters sold all of their FFL rifles somebody who had bought a bunch of the barreled receivers sold them on Gun Broker I bought 8 of them at the time I followed the instructions from a guy called Steven H who had described building one using a No8 bolt head on the old lee Enfield site, run by a guy with the name of Mark Bitings as I remember. I built 2 of them at the time one as a Jungle Carbine and one as a No4 Mk1 T . As I only had the one No8 bolt head, I had to use the same bolt in both rifles. I have been stockpiling parts to build a couple of the other barreled receivers into rifles and my opportunity came this last Saturday when IMA lowered their price on the bolt heads. I was able find a couple of No 7 magazines with the .22 insert and they worked in my rifles. I have several of the real trainers a No9 2 No8s one Faz the other BSA a No7 Canadian a No7 English 2 Pattern 14 No 1 1 Pattern 14 No2 4 no2 Mk4 and a shortr.22 Mk11 I also have one of the Belgian No 4 Mk1 trainers that they built. I will look through my stuff and see if can find the original instructions from Steven H.

From my reading of that, it's self defeating because while he's used a No8 bolt head and a cut down No4 bolt on his project, he says in the last line that he doesn't know where to get No8 bolt heads! So what's the purpose of making bolts to No8 length - or getting them...........
Great project IF you have a suitable bolt head of course! Does this project feed from the magazine or just feed off the feed tray as per the No8?

Cartridges need to be fed in with your fingers.
One of the first things you soon learn with firearms is the it is simplicity itself to get a rifle to fire. The DIFFICULT part is getting the other associated bits to work in unison. Things such as unlock, extract, eject (very difficult), cock, feed, load and lock.
Yes the magazine you see in the rifle is that of a British no7 and it does feed very nicely see where the bolt head is ground on the bottom, I did have problems with it unground as it snagged on the rim of the next round in the magazine. Now the empty cartridge case hits the rim of the round in the mag. as it is pulled out of the chamber by the extractor and it is ejected. works slick. It was right after Steve put his instructions on the forum that I was able to buy the No8 bolt head that I am now using off the internet, since that time other than the No8 bolt heads at IMA I have never seen one for sale. I bought the barreled actions for as I recollect $20.00 each as I thought perhaps I could use Canadian No7 bolt heads. I did build the 2 rifles, the Jungle carbine and the No4 T . I used the same bolt in both rifles but now have the opportunity to get the No4 T (.22) its own bolt and finish a couple more of the barreled actions. I had sold 2 of the actions off to a friend and told him about the sale at IMA so he ordered 2 no8 bolt heads and this spring after it warms up we will put them together. I put Steve N in NYs instructions on the board as they worked well and now with the availability on the bolt heads there must be several people that have the barreled actions kicking around as I recollect the were 50 or more available at the time.
