............and there was me thinking we were getting another aeroplane story:)
If it is an original it should be registered as a AOW because of the smooth bore then I would consider buying it, if it is not, then it is violation of the NFA and I would steer clear of it. If it is one of the recent redeuxs with the rifled barrel that transfer as a pistol then $900 is too much (MSRP+/- $600 with accessories). Vintage Ordnance

Where did you get that information Al?
No, I already knew that the Liberator doesn't fall under the NFA and hasn't for a long time. I didn't know it ever did fall under NFA to be honest.

I reckon it did at one time. Maybe it was removed in 1986 with many other items. Before my time as an NFA dealer.
So, what information then? The "Vintage Ordnance"?
Yes, it was removed from the NFA as collectors items and classified as a Curio or Relic.

No, I was wondering why it was still classified as an AOW. I didn't think so as I've seen a few bought and sold in the past ten years. Garry James told me he fired one once wearing a heavy work glove and it still hurt but no blood!
I've seen their repops at the Knob Creek show.
I yield. I am not as versed as some on this stuff. I will keep my mouth shut. Thanks for the info.
I want one but, I don't have the kind of disposible income needed. Maybe someday.

Thanks for input and hello Brian, I've been out of touch. It's the real deal, $900???
I can't see how you'd be hurt at $900 for an original. They have brought much more than that fairly recently at auction.
I'd run back and get it.
I've had one for thirty years. Paid $800 back then.

Love the little black book Jim. How do you use the liberator as a compass?
If anyone knows, were these released as surplus or some just walked? Also, they're not serialized correct?
They were not serial numbered, there are some small 'mold' marks including mold numbers, collecting gun Friday to show around as have 3 day inspection period, so I can put a box of white box thru it. Just kidding, Semper Fi, Don
Don't forget to wear a thick work glove!
A shield and helmet too.
Purchased, came with bonus reference book 'THE LIBERATOR PISTOL by Ralph Hagan. I will of course pay a premium for an original floor plate. Semper Fi , Don
I have seen them similar condition sold for much greater than $900. If its real and in good condition that is a very good price.
