No matter what, not very smart on the seller's part. Way too many no no parts together!
If you do not have a gun to finish it, it is just parts. If you have a gun in your possesson then you have the capability to manuf. an unregistered machine gun. That is my understanding of the law in plain english. GK
It used to be that if your did not own or have in your possession a carbine or a receiver, then you could have all the M2 carbine parts you wanted and you could sell them. Now I'm not to sure about that. ATF has gone back and forth too many times on carbines and the parts for the M2. Way back when one could have most of the parts for an M2 with a carbine as long as it wasn't marked M2 and be OK with at least one or two of the major parts missing. Then it became having a carbine and any of the required parts would give you a free federal vacation. Trigger housing, sear and slide are still OK to have and use in an M1.
This is too hokey. It is even more hokey seeing bids on it. And on eBay no less :confused: Yeah, I'd stay clear of this :nono:

It looks to me like ALL of the ATF controlled parts in an M2 conversion set are there. I thought it was against fed law to possess all (seven?) controlled parts unless one part was serial numbered and registered with ATF. But I didn't know for sure what the interpretation is now so that's why I was asking. I would be afraid of it.
The fellas with the bulges in the cheap suits have been consistent on this for at least the last 30 years. See ATF P5300.4 Questions & Answers, Question M17 & M29. An M-2 conversion kit is an NFA item subject to registration, & the item in question appears to me to meet that definition. (I can't be sure without seeing the hammer & sear.) If even 1 required part is not there, then it's not a M-2 kit.
Not everyone knows the regulations; the seller probably thinks he's just selling "parts".

The hammer is definitely modified as shown in the pic. Memory tells me the regulated M2 parts kit consists of seven parts; the hammer, lever, disconnector, disconnector spring, disconnector plunger, selector and selector(9) spring. I don't think the M2 trigger housing, M2 sear and M2 slide are regulated, I assume because they can be used as-is in an M1. The disconnector spring must be there or the plunger would not set up so high. If Neal is correct about the ATF reg, and I think he is, then it appears this is a Class 3 deal. There have been good discussions on this topic here before. I may be off a little on the exact regulated parts in the M2 kit but if so someone can correct me.Quote:

Seliing this or Buying it can possibly get you on a Radar, but perferctly legal as long as there is no serialization. I've seen items like this sell on other auction sites, but don't no the outcome. I bet someone from Texas will try to buy this. Not Me !

It is considered a Machine gun, whether you have a carbine or not. It has ALL 7 of the the evil parts: disconnector, sear block & spring, trip lever, selector & spring, hammer. Probably a BATFE trap.
