I saw many kits as imported in the 90's and early 2000's that had grips modified that way. I'm pretty sure it as an Indian modification when the thin sides were broken. You can patch them to get them back to MoD specification.

That gun needs a No.7Mk.1 bayonet which was designed for it.
There was a repair for that and as Brian says, it was quite simple and very successful. |Put the patch on across the whole top of the grip, peg diagonally as I recall and make good. The front grip is something out of someones fertile imagination. The front grip was quite short and dumpy and not canted backwards like the thing shown.
Send that grip to me and I'll repair it and send it back.
Thanks, Brian. It hadn’t crossed my mind that it might be Indian.
I will look for a No7 Mk1 bayonet.

Thanks for the very kind offer, Peter. But I am pretty sure I have one hiding in a box of Sten parts around here somewhere.
It will be a few months before the transfer goes through and I can get my mits on it.

Are these Sten barrels of some sort? They were in a box of Sten parts. I don't recognize them.
They sure look like them. Just a bit short is all.
Is it a C&R or tube gun Vincent?
Tube gun.
Nothing that I recognise. VERY short but not silenced barrels. Try one to see if it fits
Who built it?
I have an Erb and it was absolute crap. Flawless now with the help of Paul Krogh in CO. I want to get a suppressor for it eventually. I have a friend who's been experimenting with both a Mk.2S and a Mk.5S with great results and it's stirred my interest.
It's a Wilson.
I see quite a few people experimenting with suppressors now that ATF’s E-Forms makes the Form 1 so easy. I have thought about it myself, but I am about 100 projects behind.
Is your ERB built as a MkV?
It should be a good one. I did a BDL FTR to a Wilson Mk.5 a few years ago and it was a nice gun.
I know what you mean. My own projects are on the far back burner.
Mine was built originally as a Mk.V. Erb builds are less than stellar but can usually be fixed.
I think that they are to the usual Sten format BAR but not actual Sten barrels as such. But you don't know until they're fitted.
Hard to say unless they were in YOUR hands...
They are just a wee, wee bit too large to fit in a Mk2. Probably only by 0.002" or less. They would press in with no trouble.
The MkV is in transfer, so I can't try them in it yet.
I found a suppressor for the Sten. Now I need a thermal sleeve.
Does the colo(u)r of this one look right? British Sten Gun SMG Canvas Silencer Cover ima-usa.com
Too sandy/yellow coloured. We had sort of khaki webbing coloured and also a dark green like 44 pattern webbing colour. Made from heavy duty canvas. Think truck canopy. 6 lace holes with an internal flap that folded back to sit under the laced-up part. With asbestos string from the Vickers gland box wrapped under the thermal jacket
Thanks, Peter. I thought it didn't look right.
Vincent try Pegasus Militaria, they advertise or have listed the barrel wrap.
Thank you. Some interesting stuff there too.
I found a sleeve.
