New US display completed (for now)

Hey everyone. I've been on an extended break from my job (about five weeks now) and I took the time to organize all of my US militaria together and put together one large display rather than several small ones. I'm not too sure which item would be the crown jewel of it all but it is a several way tie between a few items. First there is my 1st marine division jacket with belt that is named and dated to being made between 1941 and 1942. Next there is the grouping of items my dad brought home from Vietnam including his kabar knife and his helmet (I found a folded up helmet cover in my dad's sea bag that apparently was his when he was an MP stationed at MCAS in Beaufort, South Carolina so I changed out his graffitied cover for this one since I'll be putting the graffitied one into a small frame to put next to his helmet). Then there are the Vietcong captured pieces including the flag my dad captured. Then there is the small Navy grouping that was given to my mom from the gentleman who originally was issued them (Mr. Joe DeVito). He was a friend of my grandparents who did odd jobs for them and he gave them his cook's hat and two rank insignias (one for his service uniform and the other was for his dress uniform). The list goes on and on because there are just so many cool and interesting pieces that make up the entire display. Even the wood wall hangings were brought home by my dad from his time in Thailand during the war.

Here are the rest of the items in my display. Once I get a couple of mannequins and maybe a small gun rack I can fully display some of the uniforms and gear and free up some space for more items. I hope everyone likes my new display and any and all comments are welcome.

Being a bachelor does have its up sides. Military equipment displays in the dinning room, building that dream motorcycle in the living room. Walking around in your underwear or free balling if the mood strikes you. Beer can pyramid in the bathroom, panties for lamp shades, two buddies around that after three days you have to ask to leave because all the beer is gone and the party ended two days ago....I miss being a bachelor....:(

Believe it or not warpig I'm not single and she actually let me put this display together in of all places my(our) bedroom because I had the space and she wanted me to do something while I was on break from work. She's just as interested in my collection as I am, granted with less enthusiasm but she tolerates the amount of stuff I buy since it makes me happy (besides being with her of course). Sometimes I have to justify why I would spend so much on some items but the argument quickly gets dissolved because she knows I only buy what I can afford and reasonably put back into my bank account.

She's a keeper....

You have mostly described the benifits of being a young bachlor. Let me add a few old bachlor benifits. Outside of work and the obvious family stuff weddings, funerals, etc.. If you do not feel like doing it ,well
you just don,t. This leaves lots of free time for helping friends with projects , gun shows, fishing,hunting etc...
Bonus : No trade offs New Enfield = new dress.
Oh, and more time to visit the nice folks here from around the globe.

There are a couple of other items I would love to add to my US collection if I can find them at a decent price. The first would be a complete ww2 USMC helmet that might've saw combat. Next would be a ww2 USGI M1 carbine (I have a carbine but it is a post war carbine made in Florida). I already have a Remington 1903 and an H&R M1 Garand so those rifles are covered. Then I would love to add some more Vietcong and NVA bring backs as those are sorely lacking in my collection (I have two rifles and the flag but that's about it). I have a line on two Vietcong canteens that a friend of my dad's brought home so maybe he might sell one or both if I can get to them. There might be some other items I might want to add later but I can't remember any others at the moment.

Don't know how authentic these NVA gas masks are but for $3.00.

I saw those too warpig but they say repro to me since you would think an original would be more than $3. I would love to find an NVA or Vietcong helmet and maybe a couple of belts and other random items. Gas masks aren't really my thing unfortunately.

Gotcha, probably for the better. The mask my be $3 bucks but CTD will charge $40 for shipping!!!. I stopped doing business with them over their little shipping scam of different warehouses each with its own shipping.
