I recently received a stock that had HQ stamped in the sling slot. The seller I purchased it from thought it was HD, but it's pretty clearly HQ. Can't find it documented as a stock, though HQ markings are on hand guards. Does anyone know what period these were produced for QHMC? If I can get it figured out and get batteries for the camera, I'll get some pix. Thanks, Bruce.

cali201, I looked at that site also. The hand guard section has the HQ, which was Hilerich & Bradsby, Louisville, KY of Louisville Slugger fame, which pleases me since I abide in that region when not on the road working. The stock is plainly marked HQ and doesn't appear to be re-stamped or forged. Considering the condition of the stock when I received it and the fact that the seller thought it was marked HD, I would consider it authentic. Thanks, Bruce.
Here is a different HQ stamped stock. This is an RMC highwood. I'm guessing it's Headquarters CO 110, rifle #47. I did some research, there was a 110 National Guard Unit from Iowa, if I remember right. Also, I found a 110 Australian engineer unit. I found the stamp to be an interesting unit designation.

You won't see many HQ marked handguards or stocks either. There were even HQ marked stocks that that ended up going to Underwood that crop up from time to time.
Hopefully I can get the pix to work. If so, here it is......

Hillarich and Bradsby for Quality Hardware...it is a very uncommon marking.

I'm sorry, I misspelled their name in post #3. They are Hillerich and Bradsby and still in existence around Down Town Louisville, or how we pronounce it there "Lewvull" (or one of the six other pronunciations which does NOT include "Lew-ee-ville"). :madsmile: Cheers, Bruce.
Wasn't aware of this marking until a couple months ago when posted on CMP. Then found either a hand guard or stock in my pile last month with the marking.
