Very nice, and the right price as well!
What would the laws in France be in regards to this? Here in Canada, it would be off to the smelter if it had never been registered. I think the only case for saving it under our Draconian gun laws would be if it had significant historical value.
Mr. Moose, there is much to be said for say nothing, tell no one and quietly shift to a place known only to you ---- which in fact is probably how that lovely STEN got tucked into bed under the floorboards in the first place. Not that I would ever advocate violating the just laws of the land, but one could say that one may own anything IF nobody knows one have it.
I'll add that STEN is in far better shape than one we 'repossessed' in Vietnam some 46 years ago.
Could it be a left over from a resistance fighter that a family had kept hidden all these years be interesting to know its YOM
Well this sten has gone into hiding again ready for the next invasion.
The way it was hidden, and what it was in and how dirty the wrapper was, it had been there a while, the house clearence was due to a death and house sale.
The last sten that I heard that came up the other year was taken to the local Gendarmerie,
they kept the 9mm amo, the mags and gave the rest back to the finder.
It was a little rusty but not that bad.
You could have the sten on a ticket, we have Uzis, AK47s, MP5s the list goes on.
If you think the US is liberal then think again. 303, 8X57, 7.62, 308, are now no longer military calibers, they are classed with hunting ones.
It is good to hear that France's gun laws are not as screwed up as Canada's. Britain and Australia take the cake with their's. I wonder how things would have turned out if England had disarmed all the citizens before they lost so many weapons at Dunkirk?
Actually, if you read through the history of the British firearm acts you will see that they did disarm the populace, at least to a point. There was so much fear of a communist uprising by an armed and trained populace (returned servicemen) that acts were passed to effectively prevent an armed uprising.
I heard a rumour the brits issued pikes in WWII to homeland troops early on such was the desperation of the govt concerning weapons and repulsing an invasion.
Yes Australia had to pack up and send what ever 303's we could spare to them as we had our own problems to look after.....
Pikes made from gas pipes to mount an old bayonet were indeed issued to the Home Guard and I've got some monthly returns here from the Public Records Office showing numbers.
After today, you better get it working and buy some fresh ammo.
From some pictures, a lot of the "pikes" look like quarterstaffs with an obsolete bayonet "attached". A true weapon of desperation, probably only useful in the hands of a trained and fit, "stick fighter". Of limited value against German paratroops armed with "long-range bayonets", i.e. MP38s.
