5.56 vs .223 – What You Know May Be Wrong

A very Good Article to Read. If you have a AR-15 or M4 or M16 which uses both types of these Rounds whats the difference between the 2. I might change, but then again I been using the 5.56 since I built mine and got use to it.

This discussion sounds so much like the .308 versus 7.62X51/NATO discussion last month. My conclusion from both debates: a non-issue as long as you buy a quality barrel and quality ammo. Caveat Emptor if you buy cheap anything. Military grade is a standard of excellence that keeps us away from the dangers of trash.

P.S. If this was such an issue, then people would be having barrels blow up, etc. all attributable to faulty ammo selection. This whole matter doesn't pass the "evidence test." It's like sex among water buffalos: nobody gives a darn except the water buffalos.

No slander to Frank, my point is here we go again...this has been hashed to death in multiple forums and multiple threads including here, and I absolutely agree with you. Cheap or questionable anything...is never a good idea.

Also, upon a blow up you never, ever get all the details. Like what actually caused it. The shooter often knows exactly what did it but because it was within his control it won't come to light. Because it was within control...

this is the upper case 8 is different from the lower case 8 argument but slightly different because this time they are using 6 instead of 8

Sorry for offending you guys with this post. I just submitted it for discussion without going back to read ALL past post. I just thought there could be some knowledge for people who are just getting into AR's. I've been using the 5.56 since the Military and will continue.

We're not offended Frank...it's just that we've beaten this one to death here several times...

Thanks Jim...I just thought I might have posted something that would of re-created a discussion that would of lead to many misunderstandings between people about this. I should of went back and found that this has been discussed here many times over. That's my fault.

Please don't beat yourself up over this. You are a great contributor. All this is food for thought. You never know when someone will surface through this kind of dialogue with some deep insight. I'd rather have members err on the side of sharing and see what debate unfolds than horde information because they thought someone would be overly critical.
