Will be missed
Sadly reporting that longtime member and one of our Moderators has passed away. Older members will remember Harlan Short for his CAF (Confederate Air Force) pictures. Newer members may have used his sticky on posting pictures.
I will remember him for his wit, jokes, and passion for the M1 Carbine.
Rest in peace Buddy.

I'm saddened to hear of his loss, but at the same time I feel very honored to have known him, and for the knowledge that I've gained from him. After lurking here for awhile, I became active on the site a little over 5 years ago. Harlan was one of several that offered help and advice in my forum posts, as well as through PM's and emails. He made me feel welcome and a part of the special group that we have here. I'm glad I've saved those emails and PM's, along with several pictures to help me remember what a really great guy he was. - Bob

Just as an FYI, I have tried my best to find out something, anything about what happened to Harlan. The family is keeping rather hushed about it. His friends and associates at the DFW-CAF were unaware of his passing. Harlan was a great friend to all of us here and will be greatly missed. I feel bad for not knowing sooner as we just found out this week that he passed sometime in January soon after myself and Jim had been in contact with him.
RIP my brother!

I am sorry to hear about Harlan's passing! I am really saddened to here about it. I will miss him. He has been a fixture since I joined here years ago after I left Culver forums. My prayers for him and his family. I saved his Confederate Air Force pictures somewhere. I need to find them.

We are all better for having known Harlan. He was a bright light, filled with enthusiasm for the old war birds. A true southern gentleman.
