That one's definitely "Busted", and it's gonna stay "Busted"...now it's just cover.
Who's got better AFV than me?
What did that heap of scrap start out as, the road wheels look German, but I am not recognizing the hull shape.
Is it 35% of a German Half-track?
Ah, that'll buff right out! :D
I think it's one of these...yes, German.

That looks a bit better. That's what I was thinking at first. What's left of it.
Is it just a freakish line up of something on the AFV with the muzzle of the GI's rifle but is that an Energa grenade on the end of that Garand (Was the Garand used for them or just the A3's-4 bolt rifles)

It looks like an M22 smoke grenade to me.
The Energa was first produced in the 1950's

It does not look like an M9A1 anti tank grenade.
Also, if it was a M9 you would question the wisdom of strolling the battle field with an armed M9 one stumble and it could be all over.
But G.I.'s do dumb things from time to time
Hey Mark whats the date of that 36 I have a practice one and it is dumpier than my other 36 which is 1941 vintage.
The No. 5 Mk. 1 was the first version. The explosive filler was loaded through a small circular plug on the upper half, the detonator assembly was loaded through the bottom through the baseplug, and the pull-ring striker was screwed in to the fuze well at the top. The lever was protected by metal "ears" flanking the top that could be used to locate it in darkness. It was first issued in May, 1915 but wasn't in general issue until mass production caught up a year later in 1916. The Mk. 2 had a redesigned stronger safety lever.
The No. 23, the rifle-grenade model, first appeared in 1917. The No. 23 Mk. 1 had a redesigned, narrower baseplug that was centrally threaded underneath so it could attach the rifle rod. The Mk. 2 and Mk. 3 were product-improved versions designed to make it cheaper and easier to produce.
The improved No. 36 Mk. 1 was first introduced in May, 1918. It was wider in the middle, had larger lever "ears", and had an optional gas-check disk to allow it to be launched out of a blank-propelled cup-discharger. The shellac-coated "Mesopotamian" variant (No. 36M) was designed to keep moisture and humidity out of the detonator's fuze. The No. 36M Mk. 1 was the British army's standard hand-grenade from the 1930s to the 1970s.
Dunkirk Grenade. this grenade was produced in a French factory at Dunkirk during WW1

No 5 Mk 1 Grenades
I have a couple of those No 36s... The black one I've had since I was about 10. The other two have been picked up since. One came out of a shoebox of stuff that was given to me. One good one has the internals and the other is missing the striker and spring. Then for Cinders, a 1" Gatling (Nordenfeldt) that came to me yesterday. The Rubber bullet was given me years ago and the complete one came just a couple years back...
Now I have trouble making my pics load correct side up...oh well.
I am jealous there BAR I just missed out on a 2 pounder A/T round deact the price went ludicrously high think the cost was $295/AU + 23.00 P&H so $318.00 bit out of my league but all the same you have some nice looking stuff pity we do not live a tad closer BAR be nice to see what you've collected. I actually think that I blend in with the humans very well when I go out into the public
As a civvie it has been 42 years of trolling scrounging to collect what paltry bits I have but I like them, my wife does not understand my passion for such things but as long as I load her ammo every now and then it keeps the peace Oh and dry the dishes as well as cooking and chopping wood lighting the fire then again I do not miss out. I want to buy a PMII S&B 50 power scope so laying a little low at the moment trying to figure out how to wrangle it.
I learnt one thing with my wife and that is to run zig/zag as she is too damn good of a shot with either a hand gun or a rifle they have asked her to try out for the state womens rifle team but she is just happy where she is she has already shot at state level in handguns and really not that fussed shooting at that level anymore.
I think I took us a bot OT there...didn't mean to. Maybe I should drag my crap over to the ammo forum and carry on?
The 1"Gatling was $50 CDN...
Yes, Cinders we'd have a good session of show and tell...
