I took this in a few weeks ago, never heard of this Webley & Scott based Pistol before.
Obviously made on a Flare Pistol Frame.
Calibre is .22, the barrel is a steel liner

Meant to contact the forehead and fire the super expansive .22's for the specific job. The Abattoir near us used a semi auto rifle...in .22 with the same ammo.
Talk about flogging a dead horse............... Sorry, couldn't resist that!

“Greener’s Humane Horse (or Cattle) Killer” was one of the very first practical free bullet killers. It was introduced in 1865, almost as soon as practical self-contained ammunition came onto the market and remaining as some have called it a ‘smashing’ success right through to the 1970’s. A modern Humane Animal Killer is the B&T VP9 “Veterinary Pistol”.

Yes, I know, it does look a wee bit like the old Welrod, but don’t be fooled by that coincidence. It’s a “Veterinary Pistol” for putting animals down…. very quietly… and with pretty good sights... coz those cows could be 50 feet away.
And the flashlight is to find them in the dark barn...
Yep! And there’s a mount for the light.

Webley and Scot 32 auto humane killer
310 Greener cattle killer.
Cash captive bolt pistol x 2
Looks like a wipe at the front of the can too...
The captive bolt guns are shades of "No Country for Old Men"...
I did hear about a vet who, some years back, had a slight mishap with one of these humane killers at a horse event which was open to the general public. I forget all the exact details but basically a horse got injured and it was decided that it needed to be put down. Embarrassingly for the vet, it was said that he managed to miss the horse but did manage to either shoot himself or a member of the general public; I forget which.

Yep. Sometimes you can’t improve on the old ways.
Yup, saw it right off.
