Just GOT to say three cheers to Rambo (see for sale) for being one of the '....can do' members who has got off his ar........... er...., bottom and remanufactured BSA No7 ejector blocks.

Just been reminded that we ought to mention DaveN and Brian at BDL for being in at the start of this No7 parts remanufacturing process.
You are quite right DaveN had sets made and Brian was involved in sending them to the UK but sadly some arsxxxle in the USPS depot in the states stole the package and it never left.Quote:

I have 4 ejectors left so one will be put aside. Not knowing what kind of interest there would be, the machinist made only a dozen. He did say, however, that if more were needed he would oblige.
Bruce the ejector came in today's mail it is excellent in all ways , fits perfectly ! Thank you for all of your hard work that has gone in to making these much needed British No7 .22 trainer parts .

Excellent work indeed by both parties, I now have two very well made ejectors with many thanks to Rambo's efforts, Dave did just as well it's just a shame that some toe rag stole our parcel and then probably threw the hole lot in the bin when they realised that it was just full of unrecognised spare parts.Quote:

Well three of the ejectors got to this side of the Atlantic safely this time........fortunately. Thanks chaps, to everyone involved in the project to produce them.
The problem with DTC ITAR licensed and controlled shipments containing gun parts is there are NO common carriers that will accept the shipments from the USA. The USPS doesn't offer insurance for UK shipments so the only LEGAL way to ship other than USPS is by air freight which gets considerably more expensive. I realize folks are posting parts back and forth all the time over borders but that doesn't make it LEGAL.
I have a No7, which works perfectly at present, but you never know.
I think sometimes we probably go out our way to source some bits just in case....but will probably never need to use them. I'm guilty of such a crime regarding my Matchless WD G3L, only basic bits such as magneto parts etc, but when I think of the miles its going to do (not many in our climate) I'm holding off until the need arises, I found a site that supplies all sorts of parts for very reasonable prices, inlet and exhaust valves for £15 and valve guides for £10........they probably will be needed in the engine rebuild but won't know until its on the bench in bits......Quote:

If the package went by USPS it probably had to go through the USPS center in New York if the package being delivered to the UK and the same in reverse. Those folks are a pack of thieves that would put Ali Baba to shame. While stationed in Germany, I became a good friend of the commander of the French Foreign Legion Recruiting depot in Strassbourg. The commander had given a beer stein from each of the French Foreign Legion regiments. I stupidly sent them by US APO mail back to the states. Of course on the customs declaration I put beer steins, my second mistake. Needless to say, the USPS bastar*s stolen the beer steins and had the nerve to cut the addresse label on the box out and deliver that piece of the box to me! Anyway I was Pi**ed off by the nerve of those bastar*s!! When I reported the incident to the USPS service inspectors all they could says is "We know we have a problem up there." From then on everything goes by UPS, Fedex or DHL.Quote:

Nope, the Postmaster here in Edgefield and I did all the detective work and it was stolen in Miami. That is the big processing point for shipments originating in the southeast destined for the UK. The UK authorities were very helpful but there was nothing they could do since the package never left the CONUS. The Postmaster in Miami and Washington DC were useless and didn't really do anything to help. I lost a Mk.V Lee Enfield destined for Fultons too the same year thus ending my ITAR licensed USPS shipments to the UK. I will still ship books, small parts packages, (under $100 value), and accessories by USPS with the proper AES ITN which is a CBP lodging requirement for ALL gun parts leaving the USA. At least I can get good tracking on Priority Mail shipments but not 1st Class. As I've said before; FedEx, UPS, and DHL won't accept controlled/regulated shipments from the USA so the only option is airfreight via my excellent freight forwarder in Boston. This includes full insurance from Lloyds of London too upon request.

Sorry to hear about the MkV Lee Enfield being stolen by the USPS. It just unnerves me that their managers jsut do not give a *uck about what is taking place under their watch.
