I know I am new at this and I come off as a doubting thomas sometimes, but.... it seems strange to me that there are no pics showing the front right side of the stock. Also, you can not see the very front tip of the stock in any of the pics. And what is "normal dings nothing major" mean? Is that like the carfax commercial of a flooded car having "new upholstery"?
i would like to see a better pic of the cartouche. here is a pic of what it should look like get the seller to provide an up close pic and compare, the pics provided by the seller aren't the best.https://www.milsurps.com/images/impo...3/15_121-1.jpg
Thanks guys, another friend of mine has asked the guy for more pics. We'll see what happens. Steve
how could the cartouche be so clean, since the rest of the buttstock area has been cleaned and refinished?
You might want to get an opinion from Charlie (Painter777) he knows stocks quite well.
The cartouche is fake, one of the reproduction stamps on ebay most likely.
Guys, here is the cartouche pic the guy sent my friend.

Any thoughts?
Steve,
All I get from the link is a Yahoo sign in page. I'd like to see the close-up. The photo in the ebay ad looks like a fake.
cafdfw, weird, it comes up for me. I'll have to re-learn the new posting pics procedure I guess. Steve :dunno:
Hi Steve,
(You Wild and Crazy Guy;-)
It's not that difficult. Just copy the 'image' from whatever host sight you use. In the reply section push the "Go Advanced" button. There's a yellow button on top just to the right of center with two little mountains. Click on it and 'Paste' your link in the field. At the bottom of the page there's a 'Preview Post' button similar to the old Jouster site.
There's other ways to post photos here, but the 'mountains' seem easier than browsing to me.
Give it a try. I'd really like to see the photo he sent you!

As others have said, that cartouche is way to nice to be on a stock that has been sanded and refnished.
Charlie (Painter777) has been keeping a list of sellers and buyers of the repo stamps on ebay. Might want to ask him if this person was one of the buyers.
I would stay away from it.
Looking at his past sales, he sold a repo Tweedies zipper case too. To his credit, he said people told him it was a well made repo.

If you look at the G and the flameing bomb you can see the difference, no doubt about being a repro.
