That one's going to need a bit of straightening first...and by MkIII you mean a No1 Mk 3? Yes, it's right.
Yes No1 Mk3. The above photo was found on the web.
Jim's correct it is as bent as a goat track up a mountain
Yes I know the trigger guard is bent, but the loop is correct with no1 Mk3?
Yes, it is correct.
See posts # 2, 6, 7..................!
Is it bent gents? Looks normal to me
A spare I have straight as it should be
That's for a No4 cinders. The other for a MkIII still looks normal to me.
Well there you go learned something today, here is another from spares that fits the bill where the trigger guard screw front goes through running a straight edge along the mag rails it dips at that point @2mm where the screw goes through so there we go interesting it is good to learn this now I know which guard goes with which rifle.
In 1919 it was a MkIII.... As far as the normal vs bent... here's ten that look like the OP's...

and one on it's own...

Are we saying that the top face of the trigger guard for the SMLE, No1 MKIII, should not be flat then? Surely if this is the case then, when the front screw is tightened the rear of the guard would be forced downwards?
I still think the front looks twisted, off to the side. I could just be the angle of the pic though. Looks like the far side is down. But that was not his question...
If Buster95 is able to provide another picture, please, in the other plane looking at the front of the trigger guard, it should answer the question of whether there is also some twist to the front of the trigger guard.
I'm not seeing a twist. Looks normal.
K then...
