I was cleaning the rifle and when I took the spring and follower apart the metal piece that captures the back of the spring came off. Looks like it was attached by some welding process. I would like to properly fix rather than replace the follower, if possible.
I don't know the type of weld. So I don't know where to start.

Looks like it's an electric weld, a clamp with hi power flowing through and it spot welds it.
BAR is right, it’s a spot weld.
It only takes a few seconds with a 110v spot welder. Don’t use a 220v. It will blow holes through it.
If you want to send it to me, I will fix it for you. It literally just takes just a few seconds.

Very true, Peter Laidler used to take in sad cases in optics and Prismatic compasses...then there's nose caps being made, stocks being repaired...the odd piece being shipped back and forth on a pay it forward basis... Little of everything actually...Quote:

You are one of the elder statesmen of the site and it's your example and the tone you guys set that we follow. Many of us missed you when you were gone and are so glad you are back. It looks brand new. That won't last since I shoot it a lot.
They sure did a job on the packaging. I had put it in a cardboard stapled shut so there were no edges.
I really appreciate both your skill and kindness.
I will post some A303 pics in a week or so. I have an unissued scant stock hanging in the armory to dry. The way the old battle rifle shoots it earned it.

I usually use wide packing tape and tape small stuff to a wide cardboard slab so they can't move or fall out. I'd have used a padded envelope too...good thing it was all there.
