Hi Guys,

I've recently seen several 1891 carbines with crest intact.
Haven't seen any long rifles, but some guys claim to have one. ;)
Mike
They exist but are pretty rare.
Thanks for answers guys. They sure do a good job when they scrub them.
very few known in US and A... handful at most
I think the recent import of 91's were all crested.
I happen to have one I bought a few months back with a crest they are hard to find from what I've been reading I just got lucky when I walked in to my local place
I have one,but it's been chrome plated for a parade rifle. Everything has been plated
except the barrel.

I don't have specific dates and numbers, but I can tell you that the first, and by far the largest batch imported were all scrubbed. Mine is one of these. Later a much smaller batch were imported and some of those had intact crests. I have never seen one with a crest. I wish I could find a carbine with a crest to go with my rifle. Great rifles, one of my favorite shooters.
I just found one here in Italy.
Here you can see the pictures.
Seems in pretty good shape and with a wonderful crest!

They actually have two, both with crest.
I just purchased an 1891 DWM Engineers Carbine, Crest intact. All matching.
Yeah, and I just found another one in pristine conditions.
It seems to me that here they are mostly with crest intact and also in very good conditions.
If the export weren't that expensive, I'd think about getting one from here.
I'd even be more that happy to go see it for you if not too far.
I have one, a rifle all matching except the bolt. Though the bolt and receiver are both in the K serial block and only about 20 #'s apart. Mine has also been plated to make it a parade rifle. It may not retain much collectors value but it looks good and shoots good. I know of two local shops with all matching '91 Argentines with scrubbed crest though for some reason both rifles have un-numbered bent bolts. On mine the barrel bands, cleaning rod, bolt, magazine, trigger guard, butt plate, and bolt stop have been plated.
